<p>MONROE TWP. &#8212; A member of the Kunkle Volunteer Fire Co. was struck by a dump truck while directing traffic after a vehicle crash near Routes 309 and 29 early Friday morning.</p><p>State police did not release the name of the firefighter but the Noxen Volunteer Fire Co. on its Facebook page identified him as Ed Nulton, 62, of Monroe Township.</p><p>Nulton was flown to an area hospital for serious injuries.</p><p>&#8220;Asking prayers for our fellow firefighter who was badly injured at an accident scene today,&#8221; said a message on Kunkle Fire Co.&#8217;s Facebook page.</p><p>State police said Nulton was struck by a dump truck operated by Jack C. Husband, 46, of Harveys Lake, at about 6:37 a.m.</p><p>Firefighters responded to the initial crash at about 5:45 a.m. when police said Valerie Hamer, 47, of Verona, lost control of her 2005 Chrysler Town and Country that struck a mailbox, a street sign and a utility pole.</p><p>Hamer was transported to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, troopers reported.</p><style>
