<p>It might have taken just a little more than 12 minutes, but once the scoreboard showed the second quarter, Northwest had found high-gear.</p><p>The Rangers (2-4) started off slowly, but broke the game wide open with a whopping 29 points in the second quarter en route to a 42-6 victory over GAR (1-5).</p><p>The Grenadiers had no answer for Northwest&#8217;s well-balanced offensive attack.</p><p>The Rangers ran four 209 yards and four scores on the ground while accounting for 137 yards and a pair of touchdown strikes through the air.</p><p>Northwest would shake off a slow first quarter and capture an early lead late in the opening stanza, with 2:53 left in the quarter, as sophomore running back George May plunged from a yard out to give the Rangers a 7-0 lead. That touchdown was set up by a huge 33-yard scamper down the sidelines from their senior quarterback David Piestrak, who almost took it to the house, but was tackled at the GAR 1.</p><p>The second quarter would prove to be demoralizing for GAR.</p><p>Piestrak would kick off the scoring barrage with a 50-yard keeper down the sidelines as he broke free from numerous would-be tacklers. Northwest would convert the two-point conversion to take a 15-0 lead just 92 seconds into the second quarter.</p><p>Just under four minutes later, Piestrak would finish off a quality drive that was led by big pass plays down the field with a 4-yard touchdown to up the lead to 22-0 midway through the quarter.</p><p>The Northwest lead would balloon to 29-0 after senior wide out Connor Hazlet caught a key 39-yard pass all the way down to the 1-yard-line. May would finish off the drive with a 4-yard barreling run into the end zone with just 3:15 left in the first half.</p><p>The relentless second quarter scoring would be completed with just 13 seconds left in the half. Piestrak hooked up with fellow senior Bryce Koser on a 6-yard touchdown pass to give the Rangers an insurmountable 36-0 advantage heading into the locker room.</p><p>Northwest continued to add on in the third quarter as Piestrak would find his standout senior receiver, Hazlet, for a 16-yard scoring strike directly into the end zone with just 3:43 left in the third quarter to increase the Rangers&#8217; lead to 42-0.</p><p>The three key offensive contributors for Northwest in the contest were May, Hazlet, and Piestrak.</p><p>May scored two touchdowns on the ground while running for 70-yards on just 15 carries. Hazlet had a game high 108-yards receiving on only four catches, to go along with his one touchdown reception and a big 17-yard gain on his only rushing carry on the night.</p><p>Piestrak showed senior leadership on the field all night long, orchestrating six straight scoring drives to begin the game. He ran for a game high 108-yards on just seven rushes, scoring twice on the ground. In the passing game, he was accurate all night, as he completed nine of his 13 pass attempts for 137 yards and two scoring strikes coming through the air.</p><p>The stingy Northwest defense held GAR scoreless until GAR sophomore quarterback Kam Taylor would sneak it into the end zone from a yard out with 1:54 remaining in regulation.</p><p>Lon Hazlet&#8217;s Rangers will look to make it two straight wins when they go on the road to take on Hanover Area next Friday night.</p><p>GAR will look to get back into the winner&#8217;s circle when it travels to Penn-North Mansfield next Friday.</p><style>
