<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The end is near for the sewer-line project that has closed a busy section of North River Street for longer than expected.</p><p>City Administrator Ted Wampole said the six-week project that&#8217;s now going on eight weeks should wrap up by the end of the month.</p><p>Wampole was among the city officials who met with representatives of the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority on Tuesday at City Hall to push for a resolution soon. &#8220;We want them to prod the contractor to pick up the pace,&#8221; Wampole said.</p><p>WVSA officials said it will take three weeks to get final restoration underway, according to Wampole. Some restoration began Tuesday, he added.</p><p>The infrastructure project involving the installation of 30-inch wastewater interceptor line has been delayed due to weather, technical difficulties of pulling new pipe through existing lines and dealing with abandoned underground utility lines. It&#8217;s affected travel in the city&#8217;s North End with detours and street closings since mid-August.</p><p>&#8220;We hear it from the residents. We hear it from the businesses,&#8221; Wampole said.</p><p>A few business owners told the Times Leader they&#8217;re suffering because some customers have had a hard time getting to them.</p><p>Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, which is located at one end of the project, has not had any patients cancel appointments, a spokeswoman said. And emergency vehicles have been able to transport patients to the trauma center and emergency department.</p><style>
