WVC football: Northwest earns road win; Tunkhannock, Williamsport fall

MOSCOW &#8212; Coughlin was shut out for the second time this season in a 42-0 loss to North Pocono on Friday night.North Pocono scored on seven of its 10 possessions en route to the shutout victory.Donny Blaine led the Trojans with three touchdowns. He scored the first points of the game on a 1-yard quarterback sneak within the first three minutes. Seconds before the first quarter&#8217;s close, he found Jacob Owens on a slant play to go ahead 14-0. Blaine finished with 110 yards passing.Despite the score, the Coughlin defense held the Trojans (5-3) to just two plays of more than 25 yards. Ben Yozwiak and Aiden Redding led the Crusaders defense in tackles.Trailing 14-0, Coughlin (0-8) forced a fumble to receive the ball in the red zone at the Trojans 19. One of Blaine&#8217;s two interceptions on the night cut short the Crusaders&#8217; only scoring threat.Owens carried the ball 17 times for 133 yards for the Trojans. Fullback Gabe Hribal ran for a pair of third-quarter touchdowns to put the game away.Antwan Gray Dates was Coughlin&#8217;s leader in yardage.
