WVC football: Lake-Lehman thunders past GAR

Holy Redeemer widened its lead for first place in WVC girls volleyball by beating second-place Dallas, 3-0, on Friday. The Royals swept Dallas 25-18, 25-11 and 25-7 to remain undefeated in the WVC.Holy Redeemer improves to 13-0 while Dallas falls to 12-2.In addition to the unbeaten conference record, Holy Redeemer won the 16th annual Red Rover Tournament at Easton Sept. 29, winning five of their six matches against teams that have season winning percentages of .667 or higher.Tunkhannock 3, Crestwood 0Tunkhannock swept Crestwood, 25-16, 25-16 and 25-19. Megan Straley had 10 digs, Abbigale Mingus had four kills, Annalise Verbeek registered three aces and Molly Goodwin had a block for Tunkhannock.Tunkhannock 3, Hazleton Area 0In a match played Thursday, Tunkhannock won all sets, 25-19, 25-20 and 25-22 for a sweep over Hazleton Area. Brooke Boretski had 11 assists, one kill, one block, three digs and eight service points for Tunkhannock.FIELD HOCKEYNorthwest 5, GAR 1Milana Straub scored a goal and added two assists as Northwest scored four times in the first half. Lauren Okuniewski had a goal and an assist for Northwest.Erin Leonard provided the lone goal for GAR and also had two defensive saves.Wyoming Valley West 4, Holy Redeemer 0Cameryn Forgash and Karaline Stelma each had a goal and an assist to lead Wyoming Valley West over Holy Redeemer. Selene Amigon made eight saves for GAR.Lackawanna Trail 1, Berwick 1Liz Litman scored i nthe first half for Lackawanna Trail, followed by a tally from Berwick&#8217;s Nadia Lombardi. Jackie Nevel made 22 saves for Berwick, including a penalty stroke. Mya Corcoran assisted on the goal.
