Flavor of the Week: Sell before it’s too late

&#8226; Diamonds to those Luzerne County residents who have registered to vote in advance of November&#8217;s general election.Tuesday was the last day to register for the Nov. 6 election. As of Thursday, the county had 206,624 registered voters, compared to 205,518 in May, according to county Election Director Marisa Crispell.Your party affiliation, and your vote, is your business. We&#8217;re just glad to see more people engaging in this important process.&#8226; Diamonds to journalist and author Ben Bradlee Jr., who visited Barnes &amp; Noble in the East End Centre this week to discuss his new book, &#8220;The Forgotten: How the People of One Pennsylvania County Elected Donald Trump and Changed America.&#8221;As readers have probably heard by now, that county happens to be ours. As we have said before, we believe that Bradlee relayed the thoughts and concerns of local voters with professionalism and sensitivity.&#8226; Coal to some of those attendees who hijacked the discussion during Bradlee&#8217;s appearance, turning it into a forum to air their political grievances with one another rather than seeming to care much about what Bradlee learned during his research for the book.It kind of felt like how online commenters frequently tear each other apart without actually reading the attached story. Weird, huh?&#8226; Coal to the person or persons who were responsible for dumping the tarp-covered bodies of two dead dogs near the Laurel Run Estates Mobile Home Park and near Lucas Farms Produce Center in Hanover Twp.The Laurel Run animal appeared to be an English Bulldog that had been white and brown. It was discovered in a blue tarp, and its remains were very deteriorated.The second was a medium-to-large breed dog with black hair, and appeared to be a Labrador or Border breed.It was found wrapped in a hunter-orange tarp, with a muzzle embedded into its snout.Anyone with information on either dog is asked to call the SPCA of Luzerne County at 570-825-4111.Shame on whomever dumped these animals. There are always surrender options, including the SPCA, if you cannot care for a pet.&#8226; Diamonds to members of the Germania Hose Company and neighboring departments who responded to a Duryea house fire on Friday. They swept the entire structure to make sure no one was inside, as initial 911 calls had suggested someone was trapped. Thankfully, there was not.In addition to Germania Hose, crews responded from Avoca, West Pittston, Pittston Township, along with the Excelsior Hose Company, along with other medic crews.The firefighters also managed to contain the damage to a back section of the structure.&#8220;They made a hell of a stop,&#8221; Germania Hose Company Fire Chief Joe Korea said of the crews&#8217; efforts.&#8226; Coal to the suspect who smashed his way inside Main Bike World at Kingston Corners and stole a bicycle late Tuesday, as recorded on surveillance video.People like you only drive up costs for businesses and consumers, and undermine honest people&#8217;s sense of security and safety.<style>
