<p>KINGSTON &#8212; First the positive from Wyoming Seminary&#8217;s 35-0 victory over St. Joseph North on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.</p><p>Quarterback Cooper Heisey was on the mark, hitting his first nine passes with three going for touchdowns as the Blue Knights (4-3) built a 21-0 halftime lead.</p><p>The defense intercepted six passes, with Todd Phillips getting two picks and Kyle Costello, Rob Dwyer, Bobby deLuna and Prince Hall nabbing one each.</p><p>Now for the negative. Seminary was penalized 21 times for 202 yards. The second half was particularly ugly as three penalties with a couple sacks of Heisey set up a third-and-52 from the Blue Knights&#8217; 8-yard line.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s nice to win a game 35-0,&#8221; Seminary offensive coordinator Jim Norris said. &#8220;But when it&#8217;s ugly and full of penalties, it&#8217;s not the way you want to win. But I&#8217;m happy for the kids, though. I think it&#8217;s the first time in a lot of years that we got over that three-win hump. We got to four wins and have a chance not to have a losing season. If we finish it out, it will be the first winning seasons in a long time.&#8221;</p><p>Heisey, a post-grad from New Jersey who is Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School&#8217;s all-time leading passer, got Seminary into the end zone on his first pass of the game. Lofting his throw into a stiff wind, the ball wobbled a bit but dropped over a defender and into the hands of Jason Kcehowski for a 38-yard touchdown.</p><p>Once the teams switched ends for the second quarter, Heisey didn&#8217;t have to worry about the wind. He completed four throws on a four-play, 59-yard scoring drive &#8212; all darts with the final going 39 yards to Prince Hall for a touchdown. He hit Phillips with a 4-yard TD on a slant pass just before halftime.</p><p>Good thing the passing game and defense were clicking because Seminary&#8217;s run offense was pedestrian. The Blue Knights finished with 67 yards on 21 carries.</p><p>&#8220;We came out slow up front and had trouble establishing the run,&#8221; Norris said. &#8220;I think it was the second or third series we put the ball in his hands. I think it changed the tone of the game and took us over a little bit of a hump. I think that was the drive that made it 21-0. It helped us establish a little bit of a dominance in the game.&#8221;</p><p>Heisey finally misfired on his first throw of the second half, but it was one of few. He finished 12-of-15 for 165 yards and threw his fourth touchdown pass &#8212; a 15-yarder to Phillips with 4:46 left in the game &#8212; to finish the scoring.</p><p>St. Joseph North (1-6) is a second-year program from Nepan, Ontario, Canada. The team doesn&#8217;t have a nickname and goes by the moniker Football North. Despite being from north of the boarder, it plays just one Canadian team &#8212; sister school Clarkson North. The others are against U.S. teams. It also played Erie Cathedral Prep this season.</p><p>St. Joseph North came close to avoiding a shutout, but ironically a Seminary penalty may have prevent it from putting points on the board.</p><p>Quarterback Avery Dow-Lalla completed a 23-yard pass to Jack Ashby-Jacobs, who was stopped 2 yards short of the end zone with 10 seconds left possibly because of a facemask penalty on Seminary.
