Their view: GOP doublespeak on health care starts at the top

<p>Fans of television crime dramas will learn about how the science of the human body and art overlap when forensic artist Jenny Kenyon presents a talk at the &#8220;Contemplating Character&#8221; Exhibition Symposium at Misericordia University from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 in the Catherine Evans McGowan Room of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library.</p><p>The symposium is being held by the Pauly Friedman Art Gallery in conjunction with the exhibit, &#8220;Contemplating Character: Portrait Drawings &amp; Oil Sketches from Jacques Louis David to Lucien Freud.&#8221; The exhibit is on display in the gallery through Dec. 2.</p><p>In her talk, &#8220;Seeing the Human Face,&#8221; Kenyon will guide participants through the scientific and artistic aspects of portraiture based on her experience as a facial reconstruction artist. An informal reception will follow the talk.</p><p>Misericordia University students will present original research on select portraits from the &#8220;Contemplating Character&#8221; exhibition from 3 to 5 p.m. The exhibition, curated and collected by Robert Flynn Johnson of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, California, examines identity and personality in European and American portraiture dating from the 18th century to the present. Both segments of the symposium are free and open to the public.</p><p>Kenyon is a costume and scenic designer for theatre and a forensic artist. She received her BFA in Studio Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; an MFA in Theatre Design from Brandeis University, and an MSc in Forensic Art from University of Dundee, Scotland. Her specialties include virtual and real world 3D facial reconstructions from skeletal remains and CAD based 3D reconstructions of heritage and burial sites. Her other skills include age progression and regression, witness interviewing techniques, composite sketching, 2D facial reconstructions, forensic photography, and cranio-facial superimposition.
