Runners from Philippines to participate in ‘Ryan’s Run’

<p>A heated rivalry against the Hershey Bears is inevitable with each new season for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.</p><p>But this season, there&#8217;s a difference: The Penguins and Bears didn&#8217;t have to wait very long to get the rivalry underway.</p><p>The two teams met for the first time on Oct. 17, as the Bears defeated the Penguins 3-2 for their first win of the season. The game also marked the first loss for the Penguins, who enter the weekend at 4-2-0-0, good enough for third place in the Atlantic Division.</p><p>This season&#8217;s schedule doesn&#8217;t waste any time re-acquainting the Bears and the Penguins. The two rivals face each other eight times before the end of the year, including a home-and-home series this weekend.</p><p>Last weekend the Penguins played another home-and-home series against a different rival &#8212; the Lehigh Valley Phantoms &#8212; and head coach Clark Donatelli said the constant matchups against familiar foes make for an exciting time.</p><p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t mind the home-and-home games. We&#8217;re not traveling too far so it&#8217;s not bad,&#8221; Donatelli said. &#8220;These are just tough, divisional games.&#8221;</p><p>After the Penguins host the Bears at home on Friday, they&#8217;ll travel down Interstate 81 on Saturday to face Hershey in the Giant Center. The Penguins haven&#8217;t lost in regulation at Giant Center since March 4, 2017, posting four consecutive wins on the Bears&#8217; home ice in the process.</p><p>And it will be just one game of many more to come this year against the rival Bears.</p><p>Last season, the Penguins and Bears played most of their games against each other in the second half of the season. Donatelli said he doesn&#8217;t mind playing the bulk of the games earlier rather than later.</p><p>&#8220;You never know at the end of the season who you&#8217;re going to have around. Right now we have bodies and we&#8217;re fresh. To play the divisional games now &#8230; you never know what&#8217;s going to happen in a few months,&#8221; Donatelli said.</p><p><strong>Notes</strong></p><p>- Will O&#8217;Neill will miss Friday&#8217;s game while he serves a one-game suspension resulting from an instigator penalty he received at the end of Saturday&#8217;s game against Lehigh Valley.</p><p>- On the injury front, forward Anthony Angello could return to the lineup this weekend. Forwards Jarrett Burton and Joseph Cramarossa, and defenseman Kevin Czuczman, are skating with the team but are still considered week-to-week.</p><style>
