Pashinski talks issues, including property tax elimination

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Circles on the Square lost a veteran sandwich maker Wednesday when Kathy Alaimo decided it was time to turn in her red apron.</p><p>Alaimo, 64 of Dallas, worked the sandwich line and did much more at Circles for the last 14 years. Alaimo said the work became too much for her and she decided she wanted to devote more time to her home and herself.</p><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m sad right now because I will miss everybody so much,&#8221; Alaimo said after her shift. &#8220;But I&#8217;ll find something to do. I&#8217;ll look for a part-time job somewhere.&#8221;</p><p>Alaimo said she enjoyed the daily interaction with customers and co-workers.</p><p>&#8220;There are so many fun people who come in there,&#8221; she said. &#8220;And I probably will never see many of them again.&#8221;</p><p>The Circles staff posited a farewell message for Alaimo on the Circles on the Square Facebook page:</p><p>&#8220;And as we say hello to a new month, we must also say good bye. Today was the last day for our dear Kathy. After 14 years, she&#8217;s trading in her red apron for some extra sleeping-in time and the option to wear pajamas all day if she wants to.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re sad to see her go but wish her nothing but the best. So long, Kathy. Thanks for all the laughs, the hard work, the stories we can tell, and for the permanent mark you left on Circles on the Square.</p><p>&#8220;Until we meet again. And hey, Go Red Sox!&#8221;</p><p>Alaimo is a die-hard Red Sox fan and her team just won the World Series over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Alaimo chose Red Sox garb for her last day on the job &#8212; a Red Sox home jersey with Pedroia on the back and a Red Sox hat.</p><p>&#8220;I gave my notice in early September,&#8221; Alaimo said. &#8220;Now the day has arrived. I&#8217;m sure it will be an adjustment for me.&#8221;</p><style>
