LAKE ARIEL &#8212; Time after time, Kobe Sauter kept trampling through the Meyers defense, and didn&#8217;t stop until he had 188 rushing yards and five touchdowns.By halftime.Sauter wasn&#8217;t simply running away from a four-game losing streak.He was sprinting to history.Sauter scored six times Friday and wound up with 190 yards, leading Western Wayne to the school&#8217;s first-ever district playoff victory with a 50-6 mashing of Meyers in a District 2 Class 3A football quarterfinal at rainy Western Wayne High School.&#8220;It feels great to get the first district playoff win for the school,&#8221; Sauter said.For the Mohawks, the end didn&#8217;t feel so hot.Meyers finished its final season at 7-4, before it joins Coughlin and GAR in a Wilkes-Barre Area juncture that will begin play next season.&#8220;It&#8217;s been a pleasure,&#8221; Meyers coach Jeff Labatch said. &#8220;I enjoyed my time as the Mohawks coach. It&#8217;s a shame it&#8217;s going.&#8221;It didn&#8217;t take long before Meyers&#8217; hope of advancing to the district semifinals was going, going, gone.Sauter scored touchdowns on Western Wayne&#8217;s first five possessions, going 24, 7, 15, 9 and 7 yards to put the Wildcats up 36-6.He added a 2-yard touchdown run on Western Wayne&#8217;s first possession of the second half, after Zane Janisewski ripped off a 64-yard touchdown run near the end of the first half to get the clock running constantly under the mercy rule.Sauter&#8217;s secret to finding enough space to get to paydirt?&#8220;It&#8217;s no secret,&#8221; Sauter laughed. &#8220;Our line does a great job. They were doing a great job opening holes. Anybody can run behind them. They make it look easy.&#8221;Meyers made a move to try to make a game of it, when Nazir Dunell took a screen pass and raced 57 yards for a score to pull the Mohawks within 29-6 early in the second quarter.But that turned out to be the final score in Meyers history.Meyers drove to Western Wayne&#8217;s 26-yard line, but Alex Kuha picked off a pass and returned it 93 yards to the Mohawks&#8217; 1. With 18 seconds left in the second quarter and already up 43-6, the Wildcats took a knee instead of punching it in.Meyers was earlier hurt by a nine-yard punt at the end of its second possession, which Sauter quickly turned into a 15-yard scoring run and a 22-0 lead. Immediately afterward, the Mohawks had a 92-yard touchdown return of the kickoff called back by penalty, then threw an interception to set up Sauter&#8217;s fourth scoring surge.Kuha finished with three of Western Wayne&#8217;s four interceptions, Janisewski added 76 rushing yards and a score of his own and, without Dunell&#8217;s catch-and-run, the Wildcats held Meyers to just 23 total yards in the first half. And Western Wayne didn&#8217;t punt or fumble once.So a couple of big mistakes didn&#8217;t help Meyers&#8217; chances, and the Mohawks made plenty of them, including the four turnovers and 12 penalties that cost them 89 yards officially and, unofficially, a lot more.&#8220;We had a kickoff return called back, we had them stopped and we jumped offsides (on a Western Wayne punt),&#8221; Labatch said. &#8220;There were some missed opportunities. They (the Wildcats) are a great team. They&#8217;re well-coached. They took it to us.
