No surprises in state legislative races as incumbents cruise to victory

<p>HAZLETON &#8212; A wanted fugitive was arrested with a loaded handgun during a traffic stop early Monday, police say.</p><p>After Gabriel Feliciano Fonseca, 34, was pulled over at Fourth and Wyoming streets, police said they determined he had a suspended license, had an active warrant for failing to appear in court on a drug-dealing charge, and was in possession of a Glock firearm with one bullet in the chamber.</p><p>He also had other rounds, a small amount of cocaine and had been drinking, according to a press release by Hazleton Chief of Police Jerry Speziale.</p><p>Despite Fonseca&#8217;s valid license to carry, the ownership status of the firearm at the time of his arrest was still unknown.</p><p>The firearm was confiscated and placed in safekeeping, police report.</p><p>Fonseca, meanwhile, submitted to various field sobriety tests. He then was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton for a blood-alcohol test to determine his level of intoxication, police report.</p><p>Charges are pending the result of that test.</p><p>He was brought back to City Hall and processed on his outstanding warrant, then transported to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.</p><p>Fonseca&#8217;s black Audi was towed from the scene.</p><p>In his release, Speziale said his force has stepped up enforcement in general and is &#8220;aggressively patrolling the city.&#8221;</p><p>In the hours before Fonseca&#8217;s arrest, officers had flooded the city with patrol units as part of a proactive policing effort.</p><p>It led to the arrest of an Archbald man who fled a traffic stop and was later caught with dozens of bags of heroin, authorities report.</p><style>
