CASA of Luzerne County welcomes new board members

The following are recent Luzerne County restaurant inspection reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. According to the agency: &#8220;any inspection is a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment.&#8221; The information is taken from the inspection database at <a class="vglnk" href="http://www.eatsafepa.com/" rel="nofollow">www.eatsafepa.com</a>. Postal addresses used here areas listed on the state&#8217;s website, and may not correspond to the municipalities in which facilities are physically located.Rehoskis Market, 201 Foote Ave., Duryea: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Spray bottle in meat area was not labeled to indicate the type of solution in container.Red White &amp; Brews Saloon, 115 Hudson Rd., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Facility is reduced oxygen packing steaks without the required written procedures and a HACCP plan. Facility directed to discontinue ROP practice until a HACCP plan and procedures are developed. Sample HACCP plan was provided. Observed a build up of dust on the fan guard in the walk in cooler. Observed water pooling on the bottom of the beer cooler. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required.Pittston Six Packs To Go, 308 Rte. 315 Hwy., Pittston: Follow-up inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed a build up of black residues on shelves and plastic dividers in the walk in cooler. Observed a build up of dust, webbing and debris under equipment and shelving in multiple areas of the facility.Curry Donuts, 216 Wilkes Barre Twp Blvd., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, out of compliance. Violations: The Person in Charge failed to adequately monitor the facility to prevent the re-occurance of issues with pest control. Observed cases of single-service, single-use articles stored in back prep area directly on the floor, and not 6 inches above the floor.Observed 200 rodent like droppings along the walls, behind equipment and in corners in the back prep and storage areas and in the restrooms. Observed 10 rodent like droppings on a shelf in the front area. Observed too numerous to count old rodent like droppings on the bottom of an unused rack in the back area.Aldo&#8217;s Pizzeria LLC, 1161 Rte 315., Plains: Follow-up inspection, in compliance. Violations: A food employee was observed touching a prepared sandwich with bare hands. Sandwich was discarded. Discussed bare hand contact and provided guidance documents.J &amp; J Deli Draft &amp; Bottle Shop, 3101 Memorial Hwy., Dallas: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: The post can opener blade, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. The can opener was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection. Observed a bag of potatoes, a box of lettuce and buckets of food stored directly on the floor in walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.House of Nutrition, 50 Main St., Luzerne: Compliant inspection, in compliance.Apple Asian Fusion, 506 Main St., Edwardsville: Follow-up inspection, in compliance.Soraida Grocery, 20 W. Third St., Hazleton: Opening inspection, in compliance. Violations: Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible in all freezer units.Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Paper towel dispenser empty at the hand wash sink in the prep and restroom area. Paper towels were purchased and placed at the sinks during this inspection.Puffs-N-Pics, 802 W. 15th St., Hazleton: Follow-up inspection, in compliance.Party Cakes, 740 N. Alter St., Hazleton: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed male staff person working with a wrist watch on his wrist. No sign or poster posted at the handwash sink in the bakery and restroom area to remind food employees to wash their hands. Food employees observed not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats. Observed female staff person handling ready to eat cookies.Holy Family Academy, 601 N. Laurel St., Hazleton: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Milk in self service refrigeration unit was observed to be 50F. Thermometer in unit read 55F. Milk was moved to walk in cooler.Deli Mexican Produce, 11 E. Diamond Ave., Hazleton: Follow-up inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed a tray of pastry and rolls in customer area with service tongs and rolls/pastry were exposed to customer without a covering/sneeze guard. Observed 5 fruit fly-like inspects in flight in the kitchen area.Cabana&#8217;s Restaurant, 700 N. James St., Hazleton: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Several end caps are missing from the light shields on the florescent lights above the prep table in the kitchen.The water temperature of the wash compartment of the manual ware washing equipment was 97&#176;F, rather than not less than 110&#176;F, as required. An adjustment was made to the new water heater. Water is now at 115*F.The hand wash sink located in the prep area does not have water at a temperature of at least 100&#176;F. An adjustment was made to the new water heater. Water temp now 115 * F. The food facility does not have the original certificate for the certified food employee posted in public view. The employee is to obtain a copy and post in the facility. The owner&#8217;s wife is scheduled to take the exam tomorrow and will email/text a copy of the certificate to this inspector upon receipt of the certificate. Chlorine chemical sanitizer residual detected in the final sanitizer rinse cycle of the low temperature sanitizing dishwasher was 0 ppm, and not 50-100 ppm as required.
