Luzerne County Council members call for investigation of election director’s trips

<p>KINGSTON &#8212; Police say a drug dealer from the Back Mountain intended to double his money on a crack cocaine purchase, but his plan was foiled by a broken license-plate light.</p><p>Police arrested Matthew Robert Milne, 30, of Country Village Lane, Dallas, after he attempted to conceal a bag of crack cocaine inside a Suzuki Grand Vitara early Thursday. </p><p>According to a criminal complaint:</p><p>An officer spotted the Suzuki traveling on Wyoming Avenue and noticed its brake light was not working just after 3 a.m. When the female driver stopped on Chester Street, police recognized Milne from previous encounters.</p><p>An officer noticed Milne attempted to pass the driver a plastic bag but the driver was not aware that Milne was giving her something. Milne then hid the bag in the SUV&#8217;s console.</p><p>The bag contained suspected crack cocaine.</p><p>During a subsequent interview with police, Milne claimed he was contacted by a person who asked if he could get drugs. Milne told police he bought a bag of crack cocaine for $30 at Sherman Hills in Wilkes-Barre and intended to sell the same bag for $60.</p><p>Milne denied he uses crack cocaine himself.</p><p>Police did not find any contraband inside the vehicle used to ingest crack cocaine.</p><p>Court records say Milne was sentenced June 22 by Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas to two years on probation for resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance related to an incident involving Exeter police on March 12.</p><p>For Thursday&#8217;s case, Milne was arraigned by District Judge Richard Cronauer in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed at the county lockup for lack of $10,000 bail.</p><style>
