<p>It&#8217;s not official yet but on Friday, 2018 will likely become the wettest year on record.</p><p>A flood watch has been issued for Northeastern Pennsylvania by the National Weather Service in Binghamton, N.Y., beginning at 1 a.m. Friday through Saturday for the potential of 1.5 to 2 inches of rain.</p><p>Rainfall Friday afternoon is expected to be heavy.</p><p>Minor flooding and ponding of water in urban and poor drainage areas is expected including significant rises on creeks and streams, the NWS reports.</p><p>The Susquehanna River is expected to rise reaching around 12 feet Saturday afternoon, according to the Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center. </p><p>Currently, 59.47 inches of rain has been recorded at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport from Jan. 1 through Dec. 19, which is 22.15 inches above normal for this time of year.</p><p>The wettest year was 2011 when 60 inches of rain was recorded at the airport.</p><style>
