Saint Jude fifth-grade book reports ‘a real dish’

<p>Men and women, 55 and older who drive and enjoy meeting people are welcome to join the Senior Peer Counselor Program of Community Counseling Services and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. After completing the screening and training in issues related to aging &#8212; loss, memory, relationships &#8212; volunteers are introduced to clients who are homebound, lonely and grateful for volunteer weekly home visits. From left, are Mary Bednarek, volunteer; Carle Welter, RSVP field coordinator; and Chris Domashinski, volunteer. Eight volunteers completed Senior Peer Counselor training during the past year. There are currently 18 volunteers. Seniors interested in an enjoyable volunteer opportunity, or seniors 60 years and older, who would like home visits, may call Rhoda Tillman at 570-552-6107 for more information. A new training series will begin in February. There is no charge to participate.</p><style>
