WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; Coaches can control a dual meet in many ways. One of the ways they have no control over is injuries or sicknesses.At the beginning of the season, Crestwood and Nanticoke, like many other Wyoming Valley Conference teams were both hoping to get into the District 2 Class 3A Duals Tournament. Ailments have set both teams back a bit, and they squared off on Saturday night with both missing some key wrestlers in the lineup.The Comets lineup proved to be a little deeper in the 53-25 victory. Both teams are currently behind Wyoming Valley West in the Division 1 standings for the fourth and final berth for the duals tournament at the end of the month with two weeks to go in the dual meet season.&#8220;This is a year when we finally have some extra kids on the team,&#8221; Crestwood coach Darren Testa said. &#8220;So when someone gets injured, it&#8217;s the next guy up. If it&#8217;s a new guy, great, they get to get some matches in.&#8221;The Comets (2-2 Division 1) are missing a pair of standouts in Jordan Miale and Liam Stone, who would both be in the heart of the lineup. But the replacements didn&#8217;t miss a beat. Trailing after five weights, the Comets rolled off seven straight wins to turn the meet lopsided.Will Bogdon picked up a big win for Crestwood at 113 with a pin over Zach Capie, who was the No. 2 seed at last week&#8217;s WVC Tournament. Trey Zabroski (126), Justin Sterling (132) and Ty Shaud (138) also got pins, while Garrett Swank (145) won via tech fall during the run that turned a 16-6 Trojans lead into a 53-16 Crestwood advantage.&#8220;We got a couple guys injured, but the newer guys are rounding into form,&#8221; Testa said. &#8220;Our 13-pounder locked in tonight with a big win over Capie. That was a big win for our kids. It&#8217;s a work in progress.&#8221;For the Trojans (1-4), Seth Pelton (220) and Shane Repasky (285) picked up victories by major decision and fall early to help the team get out to the lead. Nanticoke didn&#8217;t win again until the last two bouts when Jacob Galli won a thrilling match at 160, beating Nolan Stortz 19-13, and Adam Eckhart pinned Noah Meckes at 170.Pelton, Repasky and Eckhart along with Isaiah Johnson, who won by forfeit at 182, are the team&#8217;s anchors at the top of the lineup and have been for a few years.&#8220;The seasoned guys, the guys who have been here since they were freshmen, are doing very well for us,&#8221; Trojans coach Harold Shotwell said. &#8220;They&#8217;re all our upperweights, and we depend on them as a team. They get the big wins for us when we need them. Now, if we can pull it back together with our lower weights, we&#8217;ll be OK.&#8221;Nanticoke, which is missing standouts Collin Kudrako-Kashatus and Joe Sauers due to injuries, also got a new recruit to the team in star football player Joe Ammons, who just started on Friday. Ammons looked good early in his first career match nearly getting a takedown in the first period before leading 1-0 in the second period. Eventually the lack of conditioning for a few months took its toll and Ammons lost via default when injury time ran out.&#8220;I asked him if he was ready, he said he&#8217;d go out and give it a shot. He did all right,&#8221; Shotwell said. &#8220;He&#8217;s a great football player, but everybody knows different shapes for different sports. Football shape is different than mat shape. He went out there and gave it a try and he&#8217;s gonna get better from here on out when he gets his conditioning up. &#8230; He&#8217;s a stellar athlete.&#8221;Both teams have three divisional duals remaining to try to catch Valley West (2-1), Coughlin (3-1), Dallas (3-1) or Hazleton Area (4-0) for one of the conference&#8217;s four seeds for the D2 Duals Tournament, which starts on Jan. 30.Wyoming Area fallsRobin Wrobleski picked up a pair of wins and a technical fall to lead the Warriors, who lost three times at the Lackawanna Trail Duals. Wyoming Area fell 45-23 to Scranton Prep, 49-30 to host Trail and 42-23 to Montrose.Vincent Bowers, Kyle Emsley, Adam Sigman and Vincenzo Giambra all earned one win by fall on the day.Hanover Area sweptJared Banesh came up with four pins in five matches to top Hanover Area, which went 0-5 at the Line Mountain Duals.The Hawkeyes lost 61-18 to Lewisburg, 36-30 to Pocono Mountain West, 54-24 to Pequea Valley, 45-24 to Milton Area and 66-9 to North Star.Joe Rowley won three times by fall and D.J.
