<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; In 2015, the late Frank Henry said his company &#8212; The Martz Group &#8212; has always been run as a family.</p><p>&#8220;All of our customers and our employees are like family to us,&#8221; Mr. Henry said at the time.</p><p>As the company celebrates 110 years in business in 2018, his grandsons Scott and John, sons of the late Scott Henry, talked about one family in particular who places a great emphasis on longevity and the family work atmosphere at Martz: The Zawadski family.</p><p>&#8220;The Zawadski family is a perfect example of what this company is all about &#8212; hard work and dedication over many generations. I can&#8217;t wait to work with the fourth generation of Zawadskis at Martz,&#8221; Scott Henry said. &#8220;Our family is proud of the legacy this company has built over the last 110 years, and we look forward to making sure that the best years are yet to come.&#8221;</p><p>Scott and John Henry said Martz has always aimed to provide safe, reliable, courteous service not only to their customers, but also to their employees.</p><p>&#8220;The fact that we have so many long-serving employees, who really are like members of our extended family, is a great source of pride for the company and our family,&#8221; Scott Henry said. &#8220;Everyone at the Martz Group will continue working as hard as we can to make sure the company is around for another 110 years.&#8221;</p><p>John Henry said the Zawadskis are a family who have chosen Martz for employment over three generations, since 1967.</p><p>&#8226; Carl Zawadski Jr, the second generation of the Zawadski family and a current driver for Martz since 2008, followed in his father&#8217;s footsteps when choosing his place of employment.</p><p>&#8226; Carl&#8217;s Father, Carl Sr, started working for Martz in 1967 driving local routes. When Carl Jr. realized how happy his father was at the company and learning of the adventures he got to go on, Carl knew he wanted that in his life.</p><p>&#8226; In 2018, Martz had the privilege of hiring the third generation of Zawadski&#8217;s &#8212; Carl III and Chris.</p><p>&#8220;It is very special to see three generations of one family all choosing to work here,&#8221; John Henry said. &#8220;Being a family business, we understand the importance of family and it is why we have been so honored to have the three generations of Zawadski&#8217;s to be part of our Martz Family.&#8221;</p><p>At a recent reception of the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, The Martz Group was given the Presidents Milestone Achievement Award in recognition of their 110 years of service. At the dinner were some of the best and brightest companies, organizations and individuals in the greater Wyoming Valley.</p><p>When it was time for Martz to accept their award, they honored all the great members of the Martz organization who made the award possible. John Henry said the reactions from the crowd said enough, as they expressed genuine disbelief for the amazing team at Martz.</p><p>John Henry offered some startling statistics:</p><p>&#8226; 142 team members have been with Martz for 10-plus years.</p><p>&#8226; 58 team members have been with Martz for 20-plus years.</p><p>&#8226; 19 team members have been with Martz for 30-plus years.</p><p>&#8226; 4 team members have been with Martz for 40-plus years.</p><p>&#8220;As I shared the 10-plus years of 142 and continued on, I heard several reactions from the crowd that spoke to the testament of such a great team,&#8221; John Henry said. &#8220;As many organizations learn, longevity is a very important factor to the continued success for any business, but especially to the team at Martz. Without all of our team members who have been here for a few weeks and up to 40-plus years, none of this would have been possible.&#8221;</p><p>As Martz celebrates 110 years in business in the Wyoming Valley, John Henry noted the company started in 1908 with a flatbed truck.</p><p>&#8220;It is truly amazing to be part of such a wonderful company, where everyone gets treated like family,&#8221; John Henry said. &#8220;We all work together to get the job done, and we value each other&#8217;s opinion.
