Family Service Association first recipient of TL/Weis Markets program

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The Times Leader and Weis Markets announce a new program &#8212; &#8220;Times Leader &amp; Weis Markets Year of Giving &#8211; Strengthening our Communities&#8221; &#8212; a partnership that will bring awareness to local charities.</p><p>Each month, the Times Leader and Weis Markets will give a gift of $500 to a local charity. The charity will also be featured in a Sunday story in the Times Leader, along with a Weis message.</p><p>&#8220;We are proud to be able to work with partners like Weis Markets to bring more awareness to our local charities,&#8221; said Mike Murray, publisher of Times Leader Media Group. &#8220;We believe the &#8216;Year of Giving&#8217; is a wonderful way to provide funds back to our community organizations, and we look forward to this additional opportunity to partner with Weis Markets.&#8221;</p><p>Murray said Weis Markets has been a partner of the Times Leader for many years.</p><p>Kerry Miscavage, Times Leader Media Group vice president of sales and marketing, said Weis reached out to their media partners at the end of 2018 to see if there were unique opportunities in each market for additional community engagement.</p><p>&#8220;Weis Markets is highlighted often for giving back to the community,&#8221; Miscavage said. &#8220;As is the Times Leader, so we knew we could answer the call, and we did.&#8221;</p><p>Miscavage said Weis Markets is a well-known and respected brand throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.</p><p>&#8220;We are proud to partner with them on this worthwhile effort,&#8221; Miscavage said. &#8220;&#8221;We believe this project will help bring greater awareness of charities that do so much good work in our communities,&#8221; Miscavage added.</p><p>Ron Bonacci, vice president of marketing and advertising for Weis Markets, said &#8220;We are pleased to support Family Services of NEPA, which helps children and their families throughout our region.&#8221;</p><p>Mike McGinley, Times Leader Media Group head of major accounts and digital strategy, developed the program. </p><style>
