AVP air traffic controllers call for end to shutdown

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; City Attorney Tim Henry will be stepping down from his post sometime next month, City Administrator Rick Gazenski said Thursday.</p><p>He said assistant City Attorney Maureen Collins will replace Henry, who has worked for the city for 18 years. No reason was given publicly for the change.</p><p>&#8220;Maureen will be taking full duties,&#8221; Gazenski said.</p><p>City council unanimously approved all four items on its agenda during its regularly scheduled meeting.</p><p>The two resolutions and two ordinances passed 4-0:</p><p>&#8226; The reappointment of Dr. Elliot Silkowski of Noble Lane, Wilkes-Barre, to the city&#8217;s Board of Health for a five-year term that expires Dec. 31, 2023.</p><p>&#8226; An application for traffic signal approval by PennDOT on South Franklin Street between Ross and South streets. The city will assume ownership and maintenance of a signal for a pedestrian crossing installed as part of the Streetscape project at the Wilkes University campus.</p><p>&#8226; The first of two readings on an ordinance amending the garbage and refuse section of the city Code of Ordinances. The change inserts the new recycling fee of $60 a year. The fee was raised from $50 in Mayor Tony George&#8217;s $50.4 million balanced budget for this year.</p><p>&#8226; The second and final reading of an ordinance amending the 2018 Community Development Block Grant Consolidated Plan. The changed added the transfer of $798,925 in revolving loan funds for the purchase of a new ladder truck and engine for the fire department. The move increases the fund balance to $1,526,978.</p><style>
