The following are recent Luzerne County restaurant inspection reports from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. According to the agency:&#8220;Any inspection is a &#8216;snapshot&#8217; of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the over all, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment.&#8221;The information is taken from the inspection database at www.eatsafepa.com. Postal addresses used here are as listed on the state&#8217;s website and may not correspond to the municipalities in which facilities are physically located.Arthur Street Elementary School, 424 E. 9th St., Hazleton: Regular inspection, in compliance.Hartman Jerk Center, 72 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Ice scoop not stored properly after use. Interior of ice maker has an accumulation of dark water stains on walls of unit.Letts Eat, 78 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Sauce in the cold hold unit area stored open with no covering. Kitchen floor under fryers have an accumulation of grease and soil build up. Hood filters have an accumulation of grease and soil build up.McDonald&#8217;s No. 26683, 674 N. River St., Plains Township: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed a build up of milk residue in cracks behind the dispensing area on the milk machine. Mechanical warewashing equipment had a mineral buildup observed inside.Mizu Sushi Hibachi Inc., 244 Highland Park Blvd., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed a build up of ice on the exterior of containers and on shelving in the walk-in freezer. Observed a build up of food residue on the exterior of bulk ingredient containers. Fish was held at 44-45&#176;F in the area, rather than 41&#176;F or below as required. Fish was discarded. Observed a build up of black residue on the interior of the ice machine. Machine was cleaned. Walk-in freezer door is damaged and does not close properly causing ice to build up. New door has been ordered. Observed a build up of residue and debris under shelves in the back areas.Pupuseria Salvadorena, 539 N. River St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: The food facility food employee certification has expired. Employee is taking class to renew certification.Blasko&#8217;s Candies and More, 721-723 N. Violations: No sign or poster posted at the hand wash sink in the restroom area to remind food employees to wash their hands.Burger King, 600 Kidder St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance.Caribbean Paradise, 81 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection. Violations: Food facility not using wash bucket with sanitizer in it to clean food prep tables after use.China Queen LLC, 367 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Ceiling tiles in the bathrooms, back kitchen corner and waiting area are water stained from roof leaking. Will be replaced once roof is fixed, weather permitting.Craig&#8217;s Food Mart, 517 W. Broad St., Hazleton: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Small counter-top refrigerator observed with 51&#176;F ambient temperature, not maintaining ambient temperature of less than 41&#176;F. Milk was held at 51&#176;F in the small coffee refrigerator, rather than 41&#176;F or below as required. Ware wash sink compartment are soiled and stained from infrequent cleaning of sink compartments. Light bulb burned out in storage room walk in cooler.Bari Pizza &amp; Subs, 26 Laurel St., Pittston: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed a build up of food residue around the hinges on the bain-marie. Restroom does not have a self-closing door.Chef&#8217;s Corner on Main, 320 Route 315 STE 280, Pittston: Regular inspection, in compliance.CYC, 36 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Paper towel dispenser empty at the hand wash sink in the kitchen area. Kitchen employee does not possess a Servsafe certification. She claims her previous employer from Pittston will not release it. Kitchen employee is not Servsafe certified. Violations: Observed a build up of debris under shelves in the dry storage area.Jerusalem Halal Market Inc., 215 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed an accumulation of grease, dust on filters above grill and fryers.Mimmo&#8217;s Pizza, 46 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Holding rack and shelves for hot items coming out of oven are covered in cooking flower, grease, and dried food particles. Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration. Section of smooth wall covering behind service counter area is breaking away from wall and small area crumbling away.Northmoreland Fire Co., 1618 Demunds Rd., Dallas: Regular inspection, in compliance.Philly Subs and Pizza, 1428 N. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Temperature measuring device for ensuring proper temperature of equipment is not available or readily accessible in the bain-marie in front counter area. Observed walls in both men&#8217;s room and women&#8217;s room to have paint peeling away from wall. Ceiling tiles in the food prep area are stained/cracked/roughened and is not a smooth, easily cleanable surface. Observed shelving in walk-in cooler, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch. Observed walk-in cooler walls to have a buildup of a black substance. Lights are not shielded or shatter proof in the walk-in cooler. Floor and wall behind and under the grill and fryers have an accumulation of grease and food particles and in need of cleaning. Observed ceiling tiles in men&#8217;s room are soiled/stained, falling from ceiling rails.Royal Bakery, 1701 Wyoming Ave., Exeter: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Food employees observed in prep area not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets or hats. Observed food ingredients stored in a non-food grade plastic container. Hot water was turned off at the hand wash sink. Directed PIC to have hot water available at the hand wash sink whenever facility is operating. Time in lieu of temperature being used in the food facility to control ready to eat, potentially hazardous foods without written procedures or documentation to verify disposition of food.Subway No. 13712, 801 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Observed cases of food stored directly on the floor in walk-in freezer area, rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.Third Avenue Elementary School, 131 Third Ave., Kingston: Regular inspection, in compliance.Tiffany Court, 700 Northampton St., Kingston: Regular inspection, in compliance. Paper towel dispenser empty at the hand wash sink next to the 3 bay sink. The paper towel dispenser was filled during this inspection. The batteries were dead in the automatic paper towel dispenser and were replaced during this inspection. Observed the outside surface as well as the edges of the doors and the doors of the mechanical dish machine with an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, debris on these non-food contact surfaces.Abe&#8217;s Lunch, 419 S. Main St., Hazleton: Regular inspection, in compliance.Angelo&#8217;s Italian House, 695 N. Violations: Food facility does not have available sanitizer, quaternary test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration in the three bay sink at the bar. Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. The handle of the microwave oven has a build up of grime and in need of cleaning. The microwave was cleaned and sanitized during this inspection.Carmen&#8217;s Country Inn, 324 Freedom Rd., Drums: Regular inspection, in compliance. Violations: Several ceiling tiles water-stained and sagging in the warewash area and need replacing.Comfort Inn West Hazleton, 58 SR 93, West Hazleton: Follow-up inspection, in compliance. Violations: Food facility hot water heater is not producing enough hot water to supply the three compartment sink at the time of this inspection. Observed three compartment sink hot water 98-102&#176;F. Hot water warewashing shall be maintained at a minimum of 110&#176;F.
