<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; It&#8217;s double trouble for a troubled Hanover Township bar.</p><p>A man from Easton who claims he suffered a gunshot wound outside Brooklyn&#8217;s Sports Bar &amp; Lounge filed a lawsuit against the tavern in Luzerne County Court on Thursday, alleging its operators were negligent by not having a safe place to patronize.</p><p>Separately the property&#8217;s owner, SWMM Investments L.P., recently filed a complaint alleging Brooklyn&#8217;s has breached its lease by failing to pay rent, operating a nuisance business and failure to acquire insurance for its business.</p><p>The two lawsuits were filed on the heels of criminal proceedings against Brooklyn&#8217;s and its two operators, Ta&#8217;wanna Monique Brown, 45, of Wilkes-Barre, and her son, Aikeem Tayshawn Rollocks, 31, of Mount Pocono. They are facing public nuisance and nuisance charges filed by state police Liquor Control Enforcement.</p><p>Brown and Rollocks formed Brooklyn LLC and began operating the tavern on the Sans Souci Parkway in 2017.</p><p>Authorities allege the tavern has been the scene of unlawful alcohol sales, open drug use, loud music, and a shooting that injured two men on Dec. 30, 2018.</p><p>One of the men reportedly shot, Jahrod Kearney, filed a three-count lawsuit against Brooklyn LLC and SWMM Investments alleging Brooklyn&#8217;s repeatedly served an intoxicated patron who later discharged several rounds from a firearm.</p><p>According to the suit, Kearney was a patron at Brooklyn&#8217;s when a visibly intoxicated man entered the tavern and was served alcohol. At some point, the intoxicated man caused a disturbance and was removed.</p><p>As Kearney exited the tavern at 4:23 a.m. Dec. 30, the intoxicated man was still on the property and discharged several rounds, striking Kearney in the leg.</p><p>Immediately after the gunfire, the suit alleges Brooklyn&#8217;s operators locked the doors, fled the scene and refused to cooperate with authorities.</p><p>The suit claims there is a &#8220;well documented history of unlawful activity and violence&#8221; at Brooklyn&#8217;s, rendering a shooting foreseeable.</p><p>Kearney claims he suffered multiple fractures to his leg that required two surgeries and may have suffered permanent injuries.</p><p>SWMM Investments alleges in its suit that Brooklyn&#8217;s breached its lease. It also says SWMM is owed at least $1,660 in missed rent payments, late fees and canceled check fees.</p><style>
