<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Luzerne County Judge Michael Vough cannot wait until April 1.</p><p>Vough set that date for Shawn Christy&#8217;s trial on charges he ransacked a relative&#8217;s residence on Klingers Road in the Drums section of Butler Township.</p><p>He allegedly broke into the home last summer while he was on the run from federal authorities.</p><p>Christy, 27, of McAdoo, appeared before Vough on Thursday for a preliminary arraignment on charges of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and illegal possession of a firearm.</p><p>During Thursday&#8217;s brief court appearance, Christy pleaded not guilty.</p><p>When Vough asked Christy about his lawyer, he replied, &#8220;I&#8217;m pro se,&#8221; meaning he would be defending himself.</p><p>After quizzing Christy about his right to a lawyer, Vough allowed Christy to defend himself and appointed Mary Deady as his legal adviser.</p><p>The verbal squabble continued when Christy raised his request to modify his $100,000 straight bail.</p><p>Vough said he never received a motion to reduce bail.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not our job to file, that&#8217;s your job. I can&#8217;t wait to see you April 1,&#8221; Vough told him.</p><p>Butler Township police say Christy entered a relative&#8217;s home, ate food and stole two pistols and a revolver July 25. Christy left dirty dishes in the sink and two notes, one to his mother and another an apology to his relative for breaking in, court records say.</p><p>At the time of the alleged break-in, Christy was being sought by U.S. Marshals. He had been indicted by a federal grand jury on allegations he threatened President Donald Trump, a district attorney and law enforcement in Facebook posts between June 3 and June 12.</p><p>After the burglary in Butler Township, federal and state authorities searched southern Luzerne County for about a week. The search was called off when officials believe Christy stole a school van and fled the area.</p><p>Christy was captured Sept. 21 in Mifflin Township, Ohio, after a manhunt that covered about three months and multiple states.</p><p>Christy&#8217;s trial in federal court is in limbo because he is disputing attempts to have it continued from Feb. 25 to May.</p><style>
