Nanticoke man surrenders on hit-run charges

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Luzerne County jury ordered a Megan&#8217;s Law assessment for Mark C. Danko after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a woman who became unconscious after a night of drinking.</p><p>Danko, 50, of Bowman Street, Wilkes-Barre, was charged by Hanover Township police in July after a woman claimed he assaulted her and took pictures of the acts, court records say.</p><p>Police allege Danko assaulted the woman inside a residence on South Main Street in Preston the night of Feb. 23, 2018.</p><p>According to court records:</p><p>A woman told police she was with a relative and Danko making margaritas. She consumed two drinks and was on her third margarita when she went to the bathroom after feeling lightheaded.</p><p>When she opened the door, she fell into the arms of the other woman.</p><p>She told police she could not remember what happened after she exited the bathroom but later woke up on a couch as Danko assaulted her.</p><p>The woman reported she was unable to move and speak as Danko moved her body onto her side. She remembered seeing flashes and believed pictures were being taken.</p><p>When the woman regained consciousness, she received a text message from Danko that stated: &#8220;I&#8217;m really sorry I didn&#8217;t take better care of you tonight. Didn&#8217;t realize how much we were doing. Hope you had a good time though and I REALLY hope you feel okay when you get up. Let me know if you&#8217;re okay and need anything. Love ya.&#8221;</p><p>Danko pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated indecent assault before Judge Michael T. Vough.</p><p>Prosecutors withdrew a second count of aggravated indecent assault, two counts of indecent assault and one count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and sexual assault.</p><p>Danko will be sentenced May 23. He remains free on $75,000 bail.</p><style>
