Penn State hires veteran Joe Lorig as new special teams coordinator

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Wilkes-Barre law firm has filed a lawsuit notice against the city and former community policing officer Robert Collins on behalf of four women Collins allegedly sexually abused while on duty.</p><p>Charges were filed against Collins, 53, last month, when the state Attorney General&#8217;s Office accused him of sexually assaulting the four women.</p><p>Collins retired from the police force earlier this month.</p><p>On Thursday, the Dyller Law Firm filed a writ of summons in Luzerne County Court against both Wilkes-Barre and Collins, alerting both parties of the likely lawsuit.</p><p>The notice was filed on behalf of four unnamed victims, identifying them by pseudonyms &#8220;J. Doe, H. Doe., D. Doe and L. Doe.&#8221;</p><p>Collins is facing multiple counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, witness intimidation, official oppression and other related counts. He has pleaded not guilty to the counts.</p><p>The Dyller Law Firm is also representing the alleged victims of suspended Ashley officer Mark Icker, who is facing similar accusations. Attorney Theron Solomon filed a suit against Icker in federal court, accusing the officer of violating the alleged victims&#8217; civil rights.</p><p>Shelley Centini, the attorney at the Dyller Law Firm who filed the writ against Wilkes-Barre and Collins, told a reporter that a &#8220;different set of facts&#8221; led to this case being filed in county court and not federal court.</p><p>Requests for comment from city attorney Tim Henry and Collins&#8217; private attorney, Philadelphia-based Evan Hughes, were not immediately returned.</p><style>
