<p>PLAINS TWP. &#8212; The Holiday Inn here will host the 27th annual Collaborative Nursing Network of Northeast Pennsylvania program April 16.</p><p>Private practice nurse attorney Edith Brous will give the keynote address on the theme &#8220;Professional Licensure Essentials: Protecting Your Nursing Livelihood.&#8221;</p><p>Nursing has become one of the fastest-growing professions in the state and country, with widespread shortages projected to develop. That, in turn, has helped make it one of the most secure professions with a range of options in the field once someone is licensed.</p><p>Brous concentrations on licensure representation, medical malpractice defense and nursing advocacy, but also has clinical and management background in operating rooms, emergency care and critical care. According to a media release from Misericordia University, her talk will cover the mission of the nursing board which oversees state licensure and certification, the purpose of regulations, common reasons for the state boards to impose discipline, and ways to protect a license from investigation and discipline.</p><p>Misericordia&#8217;s Theta Phi chapter is one of the sponsoring nursing organizations, along with Xi Gamma of Marywood University, Iota Omega at the University of Scranton and Zeta Psi at Wilkes University.</p><p>Registration for the program is $15 for professional nurses and $5 for student nurses.
