Grandmother, grandson busted on drug trafficking charges in Hanover Township

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Linda Rowe has announced her candidacy for the city council District C seat.</p><p>Rowe, 46, is the third Democrat in the running for the May 21 municipal primary, joining incumbent Beth Gilbert and challenger Jeff Thomas.</p><p>A city resident for more than 26 years, Rowe said she is driven to represent the district in a meaningful way. She said she will tackle issues important to residents such as:</p><p>&#8226; Safety</p><p>&#8226; Cleanliness and the appearance of the streets, neighborhoods, parks and business centers dealing with trash, recycling and storm drain systems.</p><p>&#8226; Working with city departments to efficiently and effectively use tax dollars without further burdening residents.</p><p>&#8226; Creating and/or enforcing ordinances designed to hold landlords and tenants accountable for the safety and stability of neighborhoods, as well as asking for partnership from residents to regain an optimism when thinking about their homes.</p><p>For more than 17 years, Rowe has worked for Geisinger Health Plan. Her current position is an account executive, specializing in client services. She graduated from Hanover Area High School and as an adult student earned a bachelor&#8217;s degree in Leadership and Global Dynamics from King&#8217;s College.</p><p>Rowe is also active in the community, serving in advocate and volunteer roles with the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce; co-chair of Women In Business; board member of the Riverfront Parks Committee; advisory committee for Leadership Wilkes-Barre; advisory board member for the Women with Children Program at Misericordia University; and an art guide at the Sordoni Gallery at Wilkes University. She also has been recognized for her photography that showcases the region&#8217;s natural areas and points of interest, most notably in Wilkes-Barre.</p><p>Rowe resides in the Iron Triangle section of the city with her husband, Michael, where they raised two children, both graduates of GAR Memorial High School.</p><style>
