<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Holy Redeemer is headed back to the Mohegan Sun Arena for the District 2 championship game and then on to the state Class 3A girls basketball tournament.</p><p>To be able to reach those two prestigious assignments, the Royals first had to make it past a series of obstacles Saturday afternoon at King&#8217;s College.</p><p>Holy Redeemer overcame foul trouble for its two leaders, an off shooting game on the perimeter and, perhaps most significantly, an inspired comeback effort by Riverside, before escaping with a 43-40 semifinal victory.</p><p>&#8220;Our shooting wasn&#8217;t the best, but I think Riverside has to get a lot of credit for that,&#8221; Holy Redeemer coach John Jezorwski said after his team missed its first 16 attempts from 3-point range and finished 1-for-21. &#8220;Their defense was very good.</p><p>&#8220;They really pushed us. They&#8217;re a great team.&#8221;</p><p>The PIAA&#8217;s bracket switch from three District 2 state qualifiers to two in Class 3A increased the stakes for two teams that came in with combined records of 41-7.</p><p>Jerzorwski said he believes Riverside is among the state&#8217;s best 16, let alone the 32 that will fill the bracket after next weekend. Riverside coach Jack Mekilo put it higher, saying the two and unbeaten Dunmore are among the state&#8217;s 10 best in the class.</p><p>It was Holy Redeemer that made it through to a championship game rematch with the Bucks &#8212; the only District 2 opponent that it lost to this season &#8212; at noon next Saturday.</p><p>Julia Andrejko sat out 7:43 of the second half, from mid-third to mid-fourth quarter, with four fouls but still scored a game-high 12 points.</p><p>It was Andrejko who cut down the lane to receive and convert a Sam Yencha pass with 53 seconds left, halting a 10-0 Riverside streak in the previous three minutes to get within 39-38.</p><p>Yencha made both ends of a one-and-one and Sarah Kuderka kept Riverside scoring leader Julia Antoniacci from getting a shot in the final minute when the Vikes had a chance to tie.</p><p>Karissa Spade came off the bench to provide eight points and eight rebounds.</p><p>Riverside held Yencha to three shots through three quarters, but the junior center scored six of her eight in the fourth quarter. She also grabbed six rebounds, handed out three assists and blocked three shots.</p><p>Alese Karpinski had nine points for Riverside.</p><p>Antoniacci and Kylie Lavelle, a freshman point playing for the first time since suffering a broken leg in a January fall on the ice, had eight each.</p><p>Lavelle received medical clearance Friday afternoon and had not practiced with the team according to coach Jack Mekilo.</p><p><strong>Dunmore 57, Wyoming Seminary 19</strong></p><p>Wyoming Seminary&#8217;s season came to an end as unbeaten Dunmore once again shut down an opponents offense, this time in a D2-3A semifinal game at Marywood University.</p><p>Dunmore (24-0) held an opponent under 20 points for the sixth time this season. The Bucks will advance to play Holy Redeemer in the D2-3A championship game next Saturday.</p><p>Seminary (15-10) fell behind 10-0 after the first quarter and 27-4 at halftime. Alex Wesneski led the Blue Knights with eight points. Ally Vezendy added four.</p><p>Moriah Murray scored 20 for Dunmore.
