Greater Nanticoke Area High School students named to Honor Roll

<p>The Diocese of Scranton celebrated Developmental &amp; Intellectual Disabilities Awareness Sunday with a Mass at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Scranton on Feb. 24. Bishop Joseph C. Bambera was the principal celebrant and homilist.</p><p>Members of the Order of Alhambra, local caravan Alhamar No. 4 attended the mass. The main objective of the Order of Alhambra is to assist intellectually disabled people and provide activities and support for special needs children and adults. The order is open to Catholic men and women 18 years or older to join the local caravan and become a member of the order of Alhambra.</p><p>Each year, the order sings Christmas carols at White Haven Center and St. Joseph&#8217;s Center Alhambra house in Scranton. Annually, the order provides scholarships to educate undergraduate students studying to become special education teachers. Their biggest local event is the annual festival for the intellectually disabled being held this year on Aug. 18. Donations are welcome to fund this event and may be sent to: Alhamar Caravan No. 4, 17 Belles Ave., Ashley, PA 18706; made payable to Alhamar Caravan No. 4.</p><style>
