Your view: Kudos for judge in handing down tough sentence

It&#8217;s been a bit of an awkward season for the Wyoming Area wrestling team.Before the season even started, the Warriors knew they&#8217;d be shorthanded for a little while. Two-time district champ Corey Mruk and fellow district medalist Charlie Banashefski were both banged up during football season and were going to be sidelined for a while.It turned out that Mruk wrestled just one match this season, and Banashefski didn&#8217;t see any action at all. The trend continued last weekend at districts when Jaryn Polit-Moran placed second at districts. But he pulled out of this weekend&#8217;s Class 2A Northeast Regional Tournament.&#8220;It&#8217;s been a hard year we&#8217;ve had six people out with season-ending injuries,&#8221; Warriors assistant coach Brian Hines said. &#8220;Every time we kept fighting back something else happened. It was a very character building year for us.&#8221;But there&#8217;s good news for the Warriors. Freshman Connor Wrobleski claimed a district title at 138 pounds, and his brother, Robin, a senior, placed second at 170. Both will wrestle at regionals this weekend along with teammate first-year wrestler Vincent Bowers at 182. The team only entered seven wrestlers in the district tournament and five finished or better.&#8220;It&#8217;s still bittersweet because we&#8217;re still dealing with injuries. In a perfect world we could have been going to regionals with seven, eight, nine people,&#8221; Hines added.There&#8217;s more good news on the horizon for the Warriors as well. At last month&#8217;s WVC Junior High Tournament, the team won the event thanks to 11 medalists, the most of any team in the conference, and junior high coach Tristan Vanderlick was selected as the conference&#8217;s Junior High Coach of the Year.&#8220;We have nine freshmen that should be coming up, plus we already have two on our team,&#8221; Hines added. &#8220;The future is looking bright. Maybe not next year, but the year after.&#8221;Taking the next stepHanover Area&#8217;s D.J. Erickson will be looking for his third appearance in the state tournament. The senior is the top seed in the 152-pound bracket at regionals.He&#8217;s joined by Tunkhannock&#8217;s Dave Evans and Lake-Lehman&#8217;s Bob Long as past state qualifiers looking to get back. Evans participated in the Class 3A state tournament last year before dropping to 2A this season, while Long, a senior, was a state qualifier as a sophomore.Lake-Lehman&#8217;s Hunter Burke was a win away from medalling at this tournament last year as a freshman. He enters as district runner-up at 145. Also at 145 is Tunkhannock&#8217;s Gavin D&#8217;Amato, who was district champion. The junior, who was also district champ in Class 3A in 2017 as a freshman, has regional experience with a win in the 3A tournament in 2017.The replacementsThree wrestlers who were injured during the District 2 Tournament last weekend will not be wrestling at Williamsport this weekend. They were replaced by the district&#8217;s fourth-place finishers.The replacements, who were announced on Tuesday evening are, Lake-Lehman&#8217;s Tom Nalbone for Wyoming Area&#8217;s Jaryn Polit-Moran at 195, Wyoming Area&#8217;s Vincent Bowers for Hanover Area&#8217;s Hunter Karpovich at 182, and Meyers&#8217; Savon Collins for Scranton Prep&#8217;s Alec Buttner at 160.<style>
