House Democrats launch aggressive new Trump probe

<p>Frank Sheptock resigned Monday after three years as Berwick&#8217;s football coach. He also stepped down as the athletic director.</p><p>Sheptock didn&#8217;t return a message left for him, but Berwick Superintendent Wayne Brookhart confirmed the resignations. Brookhart added that Sheptock is accepting a position outside the school district. He declined to name the position, saying it was better for Sheptock to comment on it.</p><p>&#8220;The (school) board won&#8217;t officially accept it until March 18,&#8221; Brookhart said, &#8220;but he&#8217;s informed me that he is accepting another position.&#8221;</p><p>Sheptock replaced George Curry at Berwick following the 2015 season and compiled a 27-11 overall record.</p><p>In 2016 and 2017, Sheptock coached the Dawgs to the District 2 Class 4A championship game. They lost in double overtime to Valley View in 2017. The 2017 team also won the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 4A championship with an 8-2 conference record.</p><p>Berwick finished second in WVC Division 4A this past season. The team opened the D2-4A playoffs with a 42-0 victory over Pittston Area, but fell in the semifinals 3-0 in overtime to Dallas.</p><p>Brookhart said the school will work quickly on replacing Sheptock, although the football coaching position and the athletic director&#8217;s job might be split up. He said there has already been inquiries for the coaching position.</p><p>&#8220;I&#8217;ll be speaking to all the board members again soon, in the next day or two possibly,&#8221; Brookhart said. &#8220;We want to move as quickly as possible on this. I think obviously we won&#8217;t have anybody in March. April maybe. Certainly no later than May.</p><p>&#8220;We do expected a lot of teaching positions (due to retirement), which could be a plus. I don&#8217;t know if we&#8217;ll combine athletic director and football coach again. We haven&#8217;t made that final decision yet. We&#8217;ll talk about that at the March board meeting.&#8221;</p><p>Sheptock was a three-time All-American linebacker at Bloomsburg University, graduating in 1986. He spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Wilkes University and was promoted to head coach in 1996. He stayed there for 18 years, compiling a 107-81 record. His teams made two appearances in the NCAA Division III playoffs, qualified for the ECAC playoffs seven times and won the Middle Atlantic title in 2006.</p><p>Sheptock resigned at Wilkes after a 4-6 season in 2013 and was hired as Berwick&#8217;s athletic director.</p><style>
