‘Women of Round Table’ event is March 24 at Pittston Library

<p>TUNKHANNOCK &#8212; National Theatre Live returns to the Dietrich on Sundays, March 10 and 24 at 2 p.m. for the onscreen London performance of Shakespeare&#8217;s play &#8220;Antony and Cleopatra,&#8221; a modern-day interpretation. Starring Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo, it is a tragedy of politics, passion and power, directed by Simon Godwin. Tickets are available at the ticket booth, online at www.dietrichtheater.com, and by calling 570-996-1500.</p><p>This filmed performance by National Theatre Live is the story of the Roman emperor Caesar. His assassins are dead, and now Mark Antony rules, along with his fellow defenders of Rome. With the war-torn Roman Empire in the background, Mark Antony, Roman emperor, and Cleopatra, the Queen of Egypt, have fallen in love. Their obsession showcases a &#8220;simmering chemistry,&#8221; enacted by Fiennes and Okoneda, according to London&#8217;s Evening Standard. Directory Simon Godwin has put a contemporary twist to a story of East meets West. According to reviewer Sarah Crompton, this performance is &#8220;both a Roman triumph and an Egyptian feast.&#8221;</p><p>Each National Theatre Live performance is filmed from many different angles, affording close-up views and other vantage points. All over the world, these performances can be enjoyed in your favorite movie theater with the feeling that one is in the best seat in the house.</p><p>National Theatre Live always treats the audience to sights backstage and interviews with cast members, directors or production designers. These are extra-added attractions to any National Theatre Live experience. Launched in 2009 National Theatre Live has brought onscreen performances to over 2,000 venues around the world, even in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.</p><p>General admission to Antony and Cleopatra at the Dietrich is $14 each.
