ROXBURY, Mass. &#8212; Jill Korgeski had one last trip to nationals left in her indoor collegiate career.That meant one last opportunity to add to her already stocked trophy case. The King&#8217;s senior had already medaled once in shot put at indoor nationals and once in outdoor to pair with her four Middle Atlantic Conference indoor championships.And she made the most of it, finishing in sixth with a 13.67-meter throw, at the Division III Indoor Track &amp; Field Championships Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, Mass.&#8220;It&#8216;s great to represent King&#8217;s College like this,&#8221; Korgeski said. &#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t be able to get here without my two dedicated coaches, (King&#8217;s throwing coach Gianpaolo) Licata and (King&#8217;s head coach Mike) Kolinovsky and the support of my family, especially my parents.&#8221;But the sixth-place finish wouldn&#8217;t come easy as the Dunmore alum sat in eighth &#8212; the final medal and All-America position &#8212; and only ahead of the ninth-place finisher, Case Western&#8217;s Cassandra Laios, because of a better second-best throw &#8212; 13.36 to 12.92 meters. Both Korgeski and Laios had a top throw of 13.54 heading into finals.With three throws left, and new life in finals, Korgeski made them count.Her fourth throw of the day, and first of finals, proved to be her best throw &#8212; a 13.67.Korgeski leapfrogged from eighth to sixth, which was just one off her career best and where she stayed the rest of the competition.Laios remained in ninth while Wisconsin-Eau Claire senior Erica Oawster won the event with a 14.77 meter throw.&#8220;Honestly, I wasn&#8217;t really thinking about it,&#8221; Korgeski said of the slim margins heading into finals. &#8220;I was lucky to get a good throw out on my fourth attempt.&#8221;Misericordia had two athletes compete at NCAAs on Friday in Reilly Wagner and Clare Schoen.Wagner finished sixth for All-America status in the pentathlon. It was the senior&#8217;s fourth straight sixth-place finish.Schoen finished 16th in the 5,000 meters.WOMEN&#8217;S BASKETBALLScranton reaches Final FourA season that began with wins over King&#8217;s and Wilkes is going to the national stage.The No. 9 Royals won a defensive struggle in the Elite Eight, muscling past No. 4 Tufts 44-40 at the Long Center to reach the Final Four of the NCAA Division III tournament for the 10th time in program history and first since 2006.Makenzie Mason scored 14 points to lead Scranton (29-2), which held Tufts under 25 percent shooting.The Royals, led by former Misericordia men&#8217;s coach Trevor Woodruff, advance to Friday&#8217;s national semifinals, where they will play undefeated No. 1 Thomas More at Roanoke College in Salem, Va.
