<p>WILKES-BARRE TWP. &#8212; Two men from New York City and a Wilkes-Barre man were arrested Saturday after township police allege they were using counterfeit $20 bills at multiple retail stores.</p><p>Township police said they stopped a vehicle allegedly occupied by Divine Allen, age unknown, and Armani Allen, 22, both of Brooklyn, and Lahmel Cephas, 22, of Wilkes-Barre, at about 9:15 p.m.</p><p>Police allege they were in possession of $2,020 in counterfeit $20 bills and $1,500 worth of electronics purchased with counterfeit cash and fraudulent gift cards.</p><p>Several hours before they were arrested, police initiated an investigation they allegedly used counterfeit cash to purchase $620 worth of items at Game Stop in the Wilkes-Barre Township Marketplace, according to a news release.</p><p>Police said they later learned they patronized and allegedly passed counterfeit cash at Wal Mart Supercenter, Subway and stores inside the Wyoming Valley Mall.</p><p>A second vehicle was searched that revealed the three men had been in New York, New Jersey and other areas in Pennsylvania making purchases with counterfeit $20 bills, police allege.</p><p>The U.S. Secret Service is assisting in the investigation.</p><p>Divine Allen and Armani Allen were each charged with theft and criminal conspiracy to commit theft. They were arraigned Sunday by District Judge Donald Whittaker in Nanticoke.</p><p>Divine Allen was jailed for lack of $500,000 bail and Armani Allen was denied bail by Whittaker due to unknown reasons. </p><p>No court records were found for Cephas.</p><p>It was not immediately known if any of the three men arrested by township police were involved in passing a counterfeit $20 bill to purchase a gift card at Sheetz on Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard in the City of Wilkes-Barre just after 2 a.m. on Saturday.</p><p>City police said the man fled when a store clerk confronted him about the counterfeit bill.</p><p>Any business that may have received counterfeit cash or anyone with information about the activities of the three men is asked to contact Wilkes-Barre Township police Officer Robert Capparell at capparell@twp.wilkes-barre.pa.us.</p><style>
