<p>WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; Rinehimer Bus Lines, the company that lost a contract with Crestwood School District after a problem with driver clearances was discovered, has sent a letter to the superintendent demanding the contract be honored and threatening &#8220;to take such steps as may be necessary to protect its rights under the contract.&#8221;</p><p>The letter was provided to the Times Leader by board president Bill Jones, along with a response by district solicitor Jack Dean.</p><p>The letter, signed by Rinehimer president Scott Henry, contends the contract ran from August 2016 through 2021.</p><p>The letter from Dean was sent to attorney Paul Pugliese of Pugliese, Finnegan, Shaffer and Ferentino LLC. It notes the letter from Henry had been forwarded to him. Dean wrote: &#8220;I know that you did not review or authorize this letter as it in and of itself is tortious interference with prospective contractual relationships.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;Tortious interference&#8221; occurs when someone deliberately damages someone else&#8217;s contractual relationship with a third party. Jones noted the real problem is that the letter had been emailed to Superintendent Joseph Rasmus and copied to multiple transportation companies, thus creating the interference.</p><p>Jones also said the contract was terminated because Rinehimer did not fulfill the terms. At a March 21 meeting, Dean said that while the initial problem was a lack of clearances on file at the district office, it began because the company had not gotten all the required clearances as required by the contract.</p><p>The state auditor general&#8217;s office has finished an audit that both uncovered the problem and addressed it. Jones said that audit should be made public shortly.</p><p>&#8220;The contract we had is terminated and that&#8217;s over no matter how much you send out these threats,&#8221; Jones said. &#8220;It doesn&#8217;t make the board happy, it doesn&#8217;t make me happy, and we&#8217;re not going to tolerate it.&#8221;</p><style>
