PennDOT awards contract for Route 92 repair in Exeter, work to begin Monday

Maddy O&#8217;Donohue needed two hits to reach the 100-hit milestone with the Delaware Valley softball team and the senior got both of them as the Aggies defeated FDU-Florham in the second game of a MAC Freedom doubleheader last Saturday in Doylestown.O&#8217;Donohue, from Nanticoke Area, picked up a single early in the game and then, on her last at-bat in the bottom of the sixth, she took a 2-2 pitch and set it right back up the middle.Entering this past week, the catcher/utility player was hitting .393 (11-for-28) with a triple, four runs batted in and 10 runs scored. On defense, she had handled 48 chances without an error.&#8220;Maddy is a great asset to the team,&#8221; coach Kaitlyn Cooper said. &#8220;She&#8217;s a versatile athlete which allows us to use her as a utility player all over the field. Wherever she is on the field, she leads by example with her play.&#8221;The coach said that O&#8217;Donohue supplies senior leadership with her vocal presence in the dugout.&#8220;Behind the plate she is very advanced and comfortable with our pitching staff and she does a great job calling the game and the pitches by herself.&#8221;Kirah Koshinski (West Virginia)The senior and her teammates will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. on April 5-6 for the Regionals of the National Collegiate Women&#8217;s Gymnastics. They will face No. 14 Nebraska in the first round. Koshinski, a Berwick Area grad, finished fourth in the vault (9.900) and fifth in floor exercise (9.850) at the Big 12 Championships last Saturday in Norman, Okla.Prior to the meet, Koshinski was named to the league&#8217;s All-Conference vault team. She&#8217;s a three-time Regional All-American in that event.Jordan DiValerio (St. Joseph&#8217;s)The 6-foot-1, 201-pound junior right-hander is a weekend starter for the Hawks baseball team. The Berwick grad picked up the victory in an 11-5 victory over George Mason last Friday working six innings and giving up two hits, three runs, all earned, with two walks and four strikeouts.DiValerio is 2-2 with a 5.40 earned run average in five starts. In 26.2 innings, he&#8217;s given up 28 hits and 19 runs, 16 earned, with seven walks and a team-high 26 strikeouts.Marc Minichello (Penn)The freshman finished first out of 12 entrants in the javelin throw for the men&#8217;s outdoor track team at the Penn Challenge last Saturday in Philadelphia. His toss of 225 feet not only took first but was an IC4A Championship qualifier.The Wyoming Area grad was a district and state champion in his senior year and was ranked 14th in the country in the javelin. He was seventh at the New Balance Outdoor National Championships in 2017.Emmanuel Edoukou (King&#8217;s)The sophomore, a GAR grad, was named MAC Athlete of the Week in men&#8217;s track after winning the 200-meter dash (22.82) and finishing second in the 100 meter dash (11.28) at the Golden Ram Invitational last Saturday in West Chester.Junior Tara Johnson, a Pittston Area grad, was named women&#8217;s Track Athlete of the Week after she finished first in the 1,500 (4:55.16) and was second in the 800 (2:23.31). And, senior Cayle Spencer, a Lake-Lehman grad, earned Field Athlete of the Week after she captured the javelin throw (127 feet) at the Golden Ram Invitational.Tyler Jackson (PSU Harrisburg)The 6-foot-3 sophomore right-hander has pitched in seven games out of the bull pen for the baseball team and he&#8217;s picked up a pair of saves and has a 1.93 ERA.The Pittston Area grad has worked 14 innings and given up 17 hits and six runs, three earned, with two walks and 17 strikeouts. His best effort came in an 8-4 victory over St. Mary&#8217;s (Md.) on March 16 in Harrisburg when he worked 4.1 innings, giving up four hits and no runs with no walks and four strikeouts.JD Barrett (Cabrini)The sophomore infielder is hitting .295 for the baseball team. Barrett had four hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs in a two-game sweep of Wesley last week.He entered this week with 18 hits in 61 at-bats with a team-high seven doubles, a home run, 16 runs scored and 17 runs batted in. His homer came in a 7-6 victory over Gwynedd Mercy on March 16 in Radnor.William Prebola (Lafayette)The freshman opened his career with the men&#8217;s track team by finishing seventh in the javelin throw at the HPU VertKlasse outdoor meet last weekend in High Point, N.C. The Tunkhannock grad had a toss of 185 feet, 11 inches. He hit that mark on his third set. He fouled on his fifth set and passed on his sixth.Prebola was the top freshman finisher in a field of 27 throwers. He didn&#8217;t compete with the Leopards during the indoor season.Nathalie Joanlanne (Montana)The senior, a transfer from Wisconsin, is in her third season playing with the women&#8217;s tennis team. Joanlanne, from Dallas and a Wyoming Seminary grad, has been solid in the last four matches, going 3-1 at No. 4 singles and 1-3 in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.In a 4-3 Big Sky Conference victory over Northern Colorado on March 17 in Greeley, Colo. Joanlanne won her No. 4 singles match 7-5 and 6-2 and teamed with freshman Lauren Dunlap of Tampa, FL to capture No. 2 doubles 6-0.Michael Casey (Keystone)The men&#8217;s lacrosse team is 0-4 but the 5-foot-8 freshman midfielder is having a fine start to his college career. The Tunkhannock grad has three goals and an assist along with 10 ground balls and two caused turnovers.He scored his first collegiate goal in a 13-9 loss to Wells on March 5 in La Plume and had two goals and an assist in a 6-5 loss to Elmira March 20.Senior Richard DeMarchis (Tunkhannock) has an assist and 12 ground balls, three caused turnovers and has won 28 face-offs.<style>
