<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; At Friday&#8217;s meeting of the Downtown Wilkes-Barre Business Association, you could see the genuine excitement in John Maday&#8217;s face when he talked about the group&#8217;s upcoming Easter Egg Hunt.</p><p>Maday, president of the association, and the DWBBA members invite families to enjoy a day of fun, starting with the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Public Square on Saturday.</p><p>The Easter Bunny will arrive on a Wilkes-Barre City fire truck at 10 a.m. Then, participants can grab some of the more than 7,000 prize- and candy-filled eggs that will be spread across the Public Square for children ages 10 and under to find.</p><p>To complete this &#8220;egg-cellent&#8221; day, enjoy some of the great food from one of the many restaurants and visit the businesses along the Bunny Trail after the event.</p><p>&#8220;We were running out of eggs last year,&#8221; Maday said. &#8220;People stay downtown,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We see people hours later, walking around with children whose faces are painted or they&#8217;re wearing bunny ears.&#8221;</p><p><strong>Max Fine 8K Race</strong></p><p>Sandy Fine and her brother-in-law Jay Finkelstein reported on the 8th annual Max Fine Memorial 5K Race to be held Sunday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m.</p><p>The race begins near the intersection of South River and West Northampton streets and proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association,</p><p>Fine, widow of Max Fine, said the money raised stays local to help the MDA chapter.</p><p>Finkelstein, Max Fine&#8217;s brother, said in its first seven years, the race has:</p><p>&#8226; Raised more than $45,000.</p><p>&#8226; More than 100 participants each year and 40-plus volunteers.</p><p>&#8226; Increased awareness about muscle disease and raised money for research.</p><p>Fine and Finkelstein said race day registration and packet pick-up starts at 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. They said corporate and individual registrations are available, as well as sponsorships.</p><p>For more information, call Finkelstein at 570-853-3779, or Fine at 570-954-5190.</p><p><strong>Hanging baskets</strong></p><p>Larry Newman, executive director of the Diamond City Partnership, reported that sponsorships are available for the Hanging Baskets Program.</p><p>Each year the DCP hangs flower baskets throughout the city&#8217;s downtown.</p><p>Newman said there will be more than 200 flower baskets installed in 2019. He said sponsorships are available at $500 or $350.</p><p>For more information, contact DCP&#8217;s Program &amp; Marketing Coordinator, Cassie Fiume, by May 1, or call 570-846-1424.</p><p><strong>Dragon Boat Races</strong></p><p>Maday said the 2019 Dragon Boat Races will be held June 22-23 on the Susquehanna River, near the Nesbitt Park access area.</p><p>Maday said the event is a great team-building experience and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places.</p><p>Registration per boat is $1,200.
