Real Estate summit promises growth in NEPA

<p>A string of losses and a dash of rainouts had made it eight days without a win for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.</p><p>Chance Adams made sure the drought wouldn&#8217;t reach nine.</p><p>The RailRiders starter shined on the mound Wednesday, teaming up with reliever J.P. Feyereisen on a three-hit shutout in a 5-0 victory in Rochester.</p><p>Adams went six innings, allowing just two singles and a double while striking out nine with one walk to pick up the win. Feyeresien was perfect over the final three frames and was credited with the save, striking out three without allowing a runner to reach base.</p><p>Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (9-8), meanwhile, got 11 hits &#8212; four off the bat of Mandy Alvarez &#8212; and took the lead on a Billy Burns RBI single in the second inning that would be all his team would need.</p><p>Ryan McBroom hit a solo shot in the third, and Adams got some more breathing room in the sixth when Alvarez scored on a wild pitch and Trey Amburgey added a bases-loaded walk that made it 4-0.</p><p>Amburgey drove in another run in the eighth with a groundout to put the game away.</p><p>Alvarez&#8217;s big night included a double as he and Burns (2-for-4) combined for more than half of the RailRiders&#8217; hits.</p><p>Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will have a chance to salvage a split of the four-game series with a Thursday matinee against the Red Wings. First pitch in Rochester is set for 11:05 a.m. The RailRiders did not name a starting pitcher ahead of time.</p><style>
