Shawn Sheptock broke his school record in the 200-meter dash as Berwick defeated Nanticoke Area 88-62 Wednesday in Wyoming Valley Conference boys track.Sheptock ran the 200 in 22.3 seconds, which was 1.5 seconds better than second-place finisher and teammate Tim Maron. The Dawgs swept the event. Sheptock also won the 100 in 10.8 seconds.Berwick&#8217;s Griffin Keller won a pair of distance runs &#8212; the 1,600 and 3,200. Naquan Smith was victorious in the long jump and triple jump.Hazleton Area 108, Crestwood 42Jean Porte won both hurdle races while Ignccio won the triple jump and long jump for Hazleton Area.Wyoming Valley West 85, Coughlin 65Alieu Jallow won the 110-meter hurdles and the pole vault, and Tavian McKenna won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs to lead Valley West past Coughlin.Jallow finished the 110 hurdles in 16.9 seconds, then cleared 11 feet, six inches in the pole vault. McKenna finished the 1,600 in 4:45 before finished the 3,200 in 10:45.Jervone Young won the shot put (44 feet, 7 inches) and the discus (127 feet, 3 inches) for Coughlin.GIRLS TRACKBerwick 97, Nanticoke Area 52Jackie Nevil and Lexi Nevil won two events each for Berwick, which finished with sweeps in four competitions. Jackie Nevil won the triple jump and shot put. Lexi Nevil&#8217;s wins came in the two hurdle races.Amiah Lukowski (100) and Alexis Atkins (1,600) had individual wins for Nanticoke Area.Hazleton Area 106, Crestwood 44The Cougars had two triple winners in their victory over Crestwood.Jillian Buchman won the 100, 200 and 400 dashes. Lauren Festa won the triple jump, long jump and high jump. Katie Balay added wins in the 800 and 1,600.Spartans win on tiebreakerWyoming Valley West defeated Coughlin on a second tiebreaker after the meet ended with a 75-75 score. The Spartans won by having more second-place finishers than Coughlin, as both teams had the same number of first-place finishers.Jessica Shaver won three events for Valley West. She won the triple jump with a jump of 35 feet, the 100 with a time of 13.3 and the long jump with a jump of 16 feet.BOYS TENNISDelaware Valley 3, Crestwood 2Julien Lacoste and Alex Covlens won in singles completion for Crestwood, but Delaware Valley swept the two doubles matches to eliminate the Comets from the District 2/4 Class 3A playoffs.Lacoste won 1-6, 6-4, 6-3. Covlens won by an injury default.Scranton Prep 3, Berwick 2Berwick was eliminated from the District 2 Class 2A playoffs with a quarterfinal loss to Scranton Prep.Berwick&#8217;s Graham Marshman and Nick Genco won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.
