<p>PITTSTON &#8212; Sixteen days after Delton Kirkland felt ashamed for slamming his girlfriend against a wall, city police allege he stabbed her in the chest early Thursday morning.</p><p>Police said a bloody Yuanita Folk ran to a Luzerne County Transit bus parked on Butler Street seeking help at about 12:32 a.m.</p><p>Folk was permitted onto the bus and collapsed on the floor as Kirkland, 34, chased her, police said.</p><p>Police found Kirkland kneeling on Butler Street with his hands in the air.</p><p>Kirkland told officers he was a diabetic and bi-polar, court records say.</p><p>Folk was evaluated by Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance emergency medical technicians at the scene and transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.</p><p>Kirkland was free on $10,000 unsecured bail stemming from his arrest April 16 on domestic assault charges involving Folk, court records say.</p><p>Kirkland allegedly shoved Folk against a wall during an argument inside their Butler Street apartment. Kirkland told police things got out of hand and he put his hands on her, saying it was not right what he did to her.</p><p>When Kirkland was arraigned on the domestic assault charges, he was told by a district judge not to have any contact with Folk.</p><p>An arrest warrant as issued for Kirkland when he failed to appear for a preliminary hearing April 30 on the domestic assault charges.</p><p>Folk did not file an application for a protection from abuse order after the April 16 incident.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint filed Thursday:</p><p>Police responded to Butler Street when Folk ran to a bus and collapsed bleeding from her chest. Minutes after Folk was permitted to enter the bus, Kirkland approached the bus was denied entry by the driver.</p><p>Police said blood spatter covered the living room and doorway area of their apartment. Bloody bare foot prints were visible on the floor leading out the door, the complaint says.</p><p>A trooper with the state police Forensics Services Unit found a knife while processing the apartment.</p><p>During an interview with police, Kirkland claimed he thought about his intentions throughout the night up until he stabbed Folk in the chest.</p><p>Police believe Folk was stabbed while she was sleeping.</p><p>Kirkland was arraigned by District Judge Alexandra Kokura-Kravitz in Pittston on two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of simple assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a weapon. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $500,000 bail.</p><style>
