Greater Wyoming Valley Audubon Society celebrates 40 years

<p>Tunkhannock Veterans will headline this month&#8217;s Open Mic Night Friday, May 24 at 7 p.m. in the Dietrich Theater&#8217;s Peg Fassett Performance Studio.</p><p>The Tunkhannock Veterans is a group of veterans utilizing workshops to support artistic exploration and expression while providing a safe space to share experiences in the military culture. Come celebrate Memorial Day with local veterans sharing their stories. Enjoy this opportunity to hear original works read by the veterans themselves, and feel free to sign up to share your own story or talent. Sign-ups start at 6:30 p.m.</p><p>Jenny Pacanowski, facilitator of Veterans Meetup and Workshop at the Dietrich Theater, organizes events for veterans to share their experiences in a safe, comforting environment. Through this process, it helps not only the warriors, but also civilians and listeners to empathize better through the stories they hear.</p><p>The Veterans Meetup and Workshop offered at the Dietrich Theater is a place to meet up for conversation and comaraderie with fellow veterans and military service members. Attending these classes helps empower veterans through creativity.</p><p>Pacanowski says veterans always hear &#8220;thank you for your service&#8221; from the public, but to show true support, one must listen to the stories these veterans are willing to tell &#8212; supporting is listening.</p><p>The Veterans Meetup and Workshop at the Dietrich is sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation. This workshop takes place on Fridays, June 14, July 19, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. free of cost. All veterans are welcome to join. No writing experience necessary.</p><p>The Dietrich Theater is pleased to feature local artists, storytellers, comedians, poets, and musicians looking for a way to share their talents or stories with an appreciative and supportive audience.Next month&#8217;s Open Mic Night will take place on Friday, June 28 featuring singer/pianist Jamie Murray.</p><p>For more information about joining the Veterans Meetup and Workshop at the Dietrich Theater, call 570-996-1500.</p><style>
