One-shot drivers hoping to use Indy 500 as launching pad

<p>MOOSIC &#8211; Trey Amburgey and Kyle Higashioka each clubbed three-run home runs as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders built a 8-1 lead and held on for a 8-6 victory Wednesday over the Pawtucket Red Sox Wednesday night at PNC Field.</p><p>Stephen Tarpley (3-0) picked up his third win of the season in relief. Tarpley went three innings, allowing just one earned run on one hit, one walk and two strikeouts.</p><p>The Railriders took a 2-0 lead after three innings on a Billy Burns sacrifice fly in the second and Higashioka&#8217;s RBI single in the third.</p><p>In the fifth inning, Higashioka homered to center field with two out and two on to push the lead to 5-o.</p><p>Pawtucket&#8217;s Bryce Brentz doubled in Sam Travis to cut the lead to 5-1 in the top of the sixth. But Amburgey pushed the lead to 8-1 with his own two-out, three-run blast in the bottom of the inning.</p><p>Scranton/Wilkes-Barre appeared on its way to an easy victory, but Rex Brothers struggled in relief of Tarpley.</p><p>Brothers allowed a grand slam to Brentz in the eighth inning, cutting the lead to 8-5. Brothers finished just 1/3 of an inning, allowing four earned runs. The outing pushed his ERA to 7.65 on the season.</p><p>Joe Harvey allowed one run over the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up his second save of the season.</p><p>The RailRiders face Pawtucket in the final game of a three-game homestand Thursday. Pawtucket&#8217;s Josh Smith (1-1, 3.78) will face Brody Koermer (0-0, 5.14) at 10:30 a.m. </p><p><strong>NOTES:</strong> Righthanded pitcher Chance Adams joined the RailRiders Wednesday after being sent down by the New York Yankees on Sunday.</p><style>
