Woman charged with ransacking relative’s house

<p>HUGHESTOWN &#8212; A borough man wearing a bulletproof vest is accused of causing a standoff with police after he allegedly threatened to kill police or anyone who tried to prevent him from killing himself on Sunday.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, borough police received information from a friend of Bryan Anthony D&#8217;Amico, 34, of 127 Searle St., that he was threatening to kill himself. The friend said that D&#8217;Amico was taking videos and sent them to his girlfriend.</p><p>Authorities quickly responded to D&#8217;Amico&#8217;s apartment at 127 Searle St. When police knocked on the door, D&#8217;Amico said that he didn&#8217;t want to talk with anyone and that he was armed with an AK-47 and wearing a bulletproof vest.</p><p>He also told police that he would kill anyone if they tried to come in.</p><p>Residents of the building were evacuated for safety while a friend of D&#8217;Amico and authorities tried to talk with him to get him to comply and surrender peacefully.</p><p>D&#8217;Amico was observed pointing the AK-47 at himself several times, prompting borough police to call the Pennsylvania State Police SERT team along with a PSP helicopter to provide lighting and a visual on D&#8217;Amico.</p><p>PSP along with D&#8217;Amico&#8217;s wife, Sandra Sweeney continued to talk and stayed with him on the phone to calm him down. During this time D&#8217;Amico continued to say that he was going to end his life.</p><p>Police said that D&#8217;Amico and his wife were having a dispute over his drug use and the young children they had together.</p><p>PSP discovered D&#8217;Amico to be a felon from an incident in New York State that does not allow him to possess a firearm.</p><p>After receiving search warrants to seek out and firearm, ammunition or firearm accessories, authorities were able to get D&#8217;Amico to come out and surrender peacefully.</p><p>A search of the home revealed an AK-47 on the bedroom floor and a magazine with 30 rounds next to it. A gun case was also discovered along with more ammunition and two shotgun shells. Authorities later found apparent bags of marijuana, multiple pills in an unmarked bottle, a scale and a grinder.</p><p>After four hours of evaluation at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, D&#8217;Amico was released.</p><p>D&#8217;Amico was arraigned Sunday by District Judge Ruck Cronauer on possession of a firearm, two counts of terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana and use and possession of drug paraphernalia.</p><p>He was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $100,000 bail.</p><style>
