Victory Sports to open its 9th season Friday

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; The &#8220;Shivaun Show &#8212; the life and times of a California girl who landed in Wilkes-Barre and just won&#8217;t leave&#8221; &#8212; will hit the stage Saturday night at the Circle Centre for the Arts.</p><p>The show will benefit the Wyoming Valley Art League. Tickets are $10 and available by calling or texting 570-814-8229, or by email &#8212; TheShivaunShow@gmail.com. Limited tickets will be available at the door. Visit <a href="http://wyomingvalleyartleague.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">wyomingvalleyartleague.org</a> for more information about The Circle Centre for the Arts and The Wyoming Valley Art League.</p><p>Shivaun O&#8217;Donnell is the star of the show and she will, as she says, have a little help from a few of her friends.</p><p>&#8220;The Shivaun Show&#8221; will offer a night of stand-up comedy, skits, music and , O&#8217;Donnell promises.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a benefit to raise some money for the Wyoming Valley Art League, but also to raise awareness of this wonderful hidden gem in the diamond city,&#8221; says O&#8217;Donnell, the show&#8217;s host and a resident of downtown Wilkes-Barre.</p><p>O&#8217;Donnell rose to fame in the 1980s when she hosted radio shows on WILK-AM and Q-102 FM. She also worked for several years at Odyssey Fitness Center on Coal Street and most recently she is employed as a registered nurse at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Plains Township where she also serves as a certified diabetes educator.</p><p>&#8220;The moment I first walked into the (Circle Centre for the Arts) building I was struck by the beautiful architecture of the building, the galleries, the studios, and I thought, people need to know about this place,&#8221; O&#8217;Donnel said. &#8220;I also noticed a small elevated platform in the upstairs member gallery and I said &#8216;Oooooh, a stage.&#8217; And the wheels in my head started turning.&#8221;</p><p>O&#8217;Donnell and her husband, Chris, were members of a local comedy troupe &#8212; One Laugh at Least &#8212; and performed locally for a number of years. When one member of the group moved away, the troupe disbanded.</p><p>O&#8217;Donnell was also active in local theater and was a radio DJ.</p><p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve missed performing, so I got some friends together and put together what I guess you would call a variety show, like a mixture of &#8216;The Carol Burnett Show&#8217; with a some Conan O&#8217;Brien,&#8221; she said.</p><p>With the help of her friends &#8212; Mark Pisacano, Brian McNulty, Al Frank, and Sally Meade &#8212; O&#8217;Donnell will tell the tale of how she grew up in California, landed in Wilkes-Barre and just won&#8217;t leave.</p><p>&#8220;We&#8217;re having a great time rehearsing, so I&#8217;m pretty sure it will be a great show,&#8221; says McNulty, of Plains Township, a musician and actor in the show.</p><p>Desserts from local vendors will be served after the show.</p><style>
