Legislature sends series of victims’ rights bills to governor’s desk

<p>Durham&#8217;s prolific bats have delivered some quick KOs to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre so far this season.</p><p>The RailRiders&#8217; pitchers kept them in the game on Saturday. And Ryan McBroom made sure to back them up.</p><p>Tied after seven innings at PNC Field, McBroom delivered with two outs, sending a 1-1 pitch over the fence in center to give the RailRiders an uplifting 4-3 win over the league-leading Bulls.</p><p>Despite being outscored 30-16 in five games against Durham this season, the RailRiders (43-29) will have a chance to split the season series with the two-time defending IL champions with a win in Sunday&#8217;s finale at 1:05 p.m. in Moosic.</p><p>Scranton/Wilkes-Barre leads the IL North, with the Bulls (46-28) as the only team in the league with a better record.</p><p>On Saturday night, Durham erased a pair of RailRiders leads before McBroom put the home team ahead to stay in the eighth. It was his second hit of the day and the 16th homer of the season.</p><p>Danny Coulombe got the win in relief, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth while not allowing a hit. Five of his six outs came via strikeout and he walked two.</p><p>Stephen Tarpley got the spot start, tossing three innings of no-hit ball to go with five strikeouts and one walk. He exited with a 1-0 lead as the Bulls threw away a potential inning-ending double-play ball by Breyvic Valera, allowing Trey Amburgey to score.</p><p>The Bulls&#8217; Nick Solak immediately made up for his mistake with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth off of Adonis Rosa, who was promoted from Double-A Trenton earlier in the day while Kaleb Ort was sent down.</p><p>Rosa kept the deficit at 2-1 in the fifth when he stranded Jake Cronenworth at third after a leadoff triple. In the sixth, Mike Tauchman tripled himself and scored on a wild pitch. Veteran Logan Morrison then hit his third homer in as many games for a 3-2 RailRiders lead.</p><p>Durham tied it back up in the seventh thanks to former Scranton High School star Joe McCarthy, who led off with a triple and scored on a Jason Coats double.</p><p>Batting seventh, McCarthy led the Bulls with two hits.</p><p>In his third game since being demoted by the New York Yankees, Clint Frazier went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts while batting third in the order.</p><p>The RailRiders played the game as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Vejigantes, one of six home games this season they are taking that identity as part of minor league baseball&#8217;s Copa de la Diversion initiative.</p><style>
