Jaden Shedlock drove in five runs in the first inning with a pair of home runs, one inside the park, to lead Mountain Top past Throop, 18-4, in a Section 5 10-11 year old baseball game shortened to four innings on Saturday.Shedlock finished 4-for-4 with four runs scoredCarter Wanyo picked up the win on the mound, while Eric Swerdon was 4-for-4 and Brady Johnson was 3-for-5.Section 5 9-11 year old baseballAbington 14, Back Mountain National 12Back Mountain National rallied from a nine-run, first-inning deficit to take the lead in the fourth inning but couldn&#8217;t hold on for the win, falling to Abington.Will Jenkins had four hits and four RBI to lead Back Mountain.Junior BaseballBack Mountain 8, Greater Wyoming Area 7Back Mountain won its sixth consectutive District 31 title, defeating Greater Wyoming Area on Friday.Tyler Casey picked up the win for Back Mountain. He had five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings of work.Jake Koons, Liam Hite and Casey all had multiple hits for Back Mountain. Koons also drove in three runs.Greater Wyoming Area trailed 8-4 heading into the seventh inning, but rallied for three runs.American Legion BaseballMt. Post 3, Greater Pittston 2Justin Darden led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a triple and scored Mike Palmiero&#8217;s single to lift Mt. Post over Greater Pittston.Alex McAndrew forced extra innings when he tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning.Swoyersville 3, Hazleton Stars and Stripes 0Garrett Vought delivered a two-run truple in bottom of the fifth inning and Tom Federicci and Mike Kane had back-to-back triples in the sixth to lift Swoyersville over Hazleton.Nate Baranski picked up the victory, going 6 1/3 innings while allowing just three hits and striking out eight and walking two.
