Keep those critical heart valves clean

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A dog that appeared to be convulsing inside a vehicle parked outside Home Depot was treated by a city police officer and firefighters Sunday afternoon.</p><p>Police responded to the parking lot for a dog in a hot vehicle just before 2 p.m.</p><p>Multiple people were standing around a BMW directing Officer Joseph Homza, a canine officer, to the contractor&#8217;s pick-up area of the store. Homza located a black dog in extreme heat distress, police said.</p><p>Employees brought cases of water from the store and began dousing the dog with water in an attempt to cool the canine. Shortly after Homza arrived at the scene, firefighters arrived and began treating the dog.</p><p>Police said the dog&#8217;s owner, Henry Cardona Sosa, claimed he forgot about the dog in the car and didn&#8217;t leave his pet home because, &#8220;that isn&#8217;t fair&#8221; to the animal.</p><p>Witnesses told police Cardona Sosa removed the dog from the vehicle and dragged it across the parking lot to a shaded area as the animal was not able to walk. </p><p>During an evaluation, the dog&#8217;s panting had slowed and the dog was able to walk, police said.</p><p>A review of court records Monday did not result of any charges filed against Cardona Sosa.</p><style>
