A new day: Avant Publications acquires Times Leader Media Group

<p>Danielle Grega from Wyoming Valley West and Kathleen Sharkey from Wyoming Seminary each scored their second goal of the Pan American Games field hockey tournament Friday while helping the U.S. Women&#8217;s National Team to an 8-0 rout over host Peru.</p><p>Team USA improved to 3-0 in the tournament to clinch first place in Pool B.</p><p>Mackenzie Allessie from Mount Joy, Pa., led the U.S. attack with four goals.</p><p>Grega and Erin Matson scored in the final minute of the first half to put the United States in control, 3-0.</p><p>Another potential goal a minute into the second half, when Sharkey&#8217;s hit was tipped in by Van Sickle, was negated when officials met to discuss the play.</p><p>The United States still managed to get the lead to 6-0 by the end of the third quarter and Sharkey scored the team&#8217;s final goal for the second straight game.</p><p>The United States will open bracket play in Sunday&#8217;s quarterfinals against the fourth-place finisher from Pool A.</p><p>Anna Dessoye from Crestwood is also part of the U.S. team.</p><p>The Pan Am Games field hockey champion earns an automatic bid to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.</p><style>
