Police: Man faces charges after Pittston dispute

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; City police arrested Rasheed Divine Canada after investigating reports of gunfire in the area of 181 George Ave. late Sunday night.</p><p>Officers responded after witnesses reported hearing five to six gunshots and seeing two men wearing orange sweatshirts running from the area just before 11 p.m.</p><p>Canada, 18, of Ralph Street, Wilkes-Barre, and another man, who was not charged, were detained when officers found them at George Avenue and Parking Street.</p><p>Police allege Canada attempted to flee when officers attempted to search him. Canada and two officers fell to the ground during a struggle, court records say.</p><p>Police said they recovered a Taurus handgun inside a fanny pack allegedly worn by Canada.</p><p>Police traced the firearm&#8217;s serial number to its registered owner in Berwick but were not able to contact the owner to determine if it was stolen.</p><p>Officers recovered five spent .380-caliber shell casings outside the George Avenue residence.</p><p>Canada said he fled the residence because &#8220;people were shooting up back there,&#8221; according to court records.</p><p>Canada was arraigned by District Judge Richard Cronauer in Luzerne County Central Court on charges of recklessly endangering another person and firearms not to be carried without a license. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $10,000 bail.</p><style>
