<p>LEHMAN TWP. &#8212; Coming into the evening and week two of the young high school football season, both teams, Lake-Lehman and Lakeland were riding some extreme highs and some extreme lows after their opening week contests.</p><p>Something was bound to give, and in week two, Lake-Lehman was dominant in a 25-13 home-opening win over the Lakeland Chiefs on Friday night.</p><p>Lake-Lehman was looking to rebound in a big way after a tough 33-7 loss on the road to Western Wayne last week. Meanwhile Lakeland was riding high after a 28-8 pounding of Honesdale.</p><p>In addition, Lake-Lehman was trying to get some revenge against Lakeland, which ended the Black Knights&#8217; season a year ago in the playoffs in a hard fought 6-3 overtime loss last November.</p><p>After deferring the opening kickoff, Lake-Lehman got the ball second, and in their opening offensive drive the Black Knights didn&#8217;t disappoint.</p><p>They went on an impressive 15 play, 86-yard scoring drive, that culminated with junior quarterback Ethan Adams hooking up with fellow junior tailback, Ryan Eiden, on a short screen pass that he took all the way to the house for a 24-yard touchdown catch with 3:28 left in the opening quarter to give Lehman a 7-0 early advantage.</p><p>However, Lakeland showed great resiliency on its next offensive drive.</p><p>The Chiefs came back to tie the game at 7-7 when junior signal caller C.J. Dippre connected on a fourth-and-six pass with wideout Mike Pidgeon on a deep 31-yard bomb into the end zone less than a minute into the second stanza.</p><p>But Lake-Lehman scored 18 unanswered points from there as the Black Knights ran up a 25-7 late in the game. After a big 26-yard completion from Adams to junior running back Danny Kutz brought the ball all the way to the 1-yard line, senior fullback Scott Robbins barreled his way into the end zone to give the Black Knights a 13-7 advantage with 6:02 left in the first half.</p><p>Both teams went scoreless in the third stanza, but the Black Knights used their dominant and diverse running attack to boost their advantage.</p><p>Lehman finished off a crucial drive with an eight-yard touchdown run by senior tailback Zack Kojadinovich to increase the lead to 19-7 just four seconds into the fourth quarter. Kojadinovich wasn&#8217;t finished, as he finished off another long, clock draining drive by barreling into the end zone from three yards out to give the Black Knights a 25-7 lead with 1:10 left in the game.</p><p>The Black Knights defense held Lakeland&#8217;s high-powered offense in check throughout the night, limiting star running back Giovanni Spataro to just 65 yards and no scores on 15 carries. And after giving up a few deep balls early in the game, Lehman made sure Lakeland&#8217;s quarterback Dippre couldn&#8217;t muster much more offense with the passing game.</p><p>Dippre added the game&#8217;s final score when he connected with receiver Billy Good on a 16-yard touchdown strike with just nine seconds remaining.</p><p>Now, head coach David Piwowarczyk and his 1-1 Lakeland Chiefs will look to bounce back at home next Friday night against the Riverside Vikings.</p><p>Meanwhile, the Black Knights will look to break the .500 mark when they travel to Hanover Area Hawkeyes to start WVC play next week.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s at Hanover Area, it&#8217;s always going to be a good game,&#8221; Lehman coach Jerry Gilsky said. &#8220;You look at the coach (Rick Hummer) that they have there, they are starting to get their system in place. You look at that, and they&#8217;re in a rebuilding phase and stuff. Every team that we are looking at right now, we are concerned about week 11. But right now this starts our playoffs and we are going to take it like we are playing Lakeland.&#8221;</p><style>
